Hello everyone,

I would like to know if we can stay in Thailand for 60 days without visa ?

These news I read on Internet "60 days without visa for 93 countries" are real or fake news ?

Should I buy a visa to stay 35 days from august to september ?

Thanks a lot 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, travelers from certain countries can initially enter Thailand with a 30-day visa exemption upon arrival, which may be extended by 30 days at a local immigration office for a fee. There are discussions about a possible extension of this exemption to 60 days, but as of now, this has not been officially implemented. Additionally, for certain nationalities, like South Koreans, there may be longer stay periods based on bilateral agreements. It's crucial for travelers to ensure they have proof of onward travel within the 30-day window to avoid issues with airlines during check-in.

Sorry my english if i buy with qatar from milan to bangkok a fly go and bach after 60 days and qatar checj in ask me because not have a visa but will the free visa can qatar refuse to give me ok fuer deoarture???

@Giovanni ******

@Giovanni ******

The news isn't fake, as in: this was officially announced by official sources (government). That they then didn't follow through is not "keeping things the way they are". It's rather a change of plan, given the fact that the change was officially decided and officially announced.

So, we have two changes, and both are real: (1) decision to change from 30 to 60 days, and (2) a new decision, to not do it (yet). Two developments, one of which was heavily published, the second actually also published but perhaps a bit less widely.

So, no, the news was not fake. 'Old' is the better qualification.

In many cases a visa gets you a 30 day stamp that can be extended +30 days, but that depends on your nationality, so you will need to check the Thai Embassy [in your country].
Martyn ***********
Without giving your nationality difficult to say really... But i find the embassy website the best place for avoiding 'fake visa news'...

30 days visa exempt on arrival the go to immigration for 30 days extension 1900 baht plus tm30 and three passport size photos straight forward but expect to waste a day waiting on in popular tourist destinations

I just realized that you are South Korean. You get 90 days under a bilateral agreement - South Korea isn't a visa-exempt country, it's better than that - it's a bilateral treaty country.

As a pass holder of a country granted a visa-exempt entry, you can fly to Thailand without a visa, you will receive a 30 days stay permit upon the “visa-exempt entry” and can extend your stay for 30 more days for 1900.- THB at any Immigration office.

Shortly before the end of day 59 you can exit Thailand to a neighbouring country, Laos is best suited for this. You can spend a few days or even weeks in Laos, and re-enter Thailand without a visa, again. You will again be stamped in for 30 days, which - with some luck - you can get extended for 30 more days, too

A problem can arise with the airline you are flying out of the U.K. Most airlines will ask for an “onward travel proof” out of Thailand within the 30 days you get stamped in.

This can be solved by buying a cheap Air Asia one-way ticket from – for example – Hat Yai to Kuala Lumpur for around 40 US Dollars.

WARNING: be careful with these so called 12 Dollar “onwardtickets” – they are about to get blacklisted by many airlines since the beginning of this year

NOTE: Immigration will not be interested in your return- or onward travel.

Only after you have completed a first visa-exempt entry, and you are coming in on a second attempt, they might begin to ask.

In this case they might also ask you if you hold enough cash money – you will need 20.000.- THB in Thai Baht or another currency in cash (credit cards are not accepted!) – and they will also want to see a few days of pre-booked accommodation

The best way to achieve a 5 to 6 month stay, however, is by applying for the 60-days single entry Tourist Visa through the E-Visa Online System.

Holding a visa, airlines won’t ask for onward travel proof, and you will get stamped in for 60 days admitted stay. These can be extended once, for 1900.- THB on any Immigration for 30 more days.

Before the 90 days are up, you can do a border run”, re-enter Thailand visa-exempt and receive 30 days stay permit, which you again can extend for further 30 days.

A second border run normally is possible, but it will be upon the discretion of the Immigration officer (as always is) to grant you another entry within such a short period between each other entries. It would surely help if you stay outside of Thailand for a few weeks before you come back visa-exempt.

Keep in mind, visa exempt entries across a land border are limited to TWO within a calendar year. And although visa-exempt entries are posted as being “unlimited”, I would touch this rule only with a pair of golden tweezers. You can be sure an Immigration officer will raise his/her eyebrows after three – and even after two - exempt entries

Nobody can give you any 100% assurance on how many times it is possible to enter visa-exempt by consecutive entries or when some time is between each. The Immigration Officers have a last say on it. Show up dressed properly and behave politely.

Safe travels!

Planned. It hasnt happened yet.

Media speculation designed to capture clicks. It obviously worked

@Jim *******
don't blame the media. We can only blame the actual source, which is the Thai government. Media only reported what was officially announced, which is the only thing they could do.

Or well, they actually could actually do one other thing additionally. They could speculate whether the measure would be followed through upon or not. Given the past, a little speculation wouldn't be off limits, imo. But let's agree that suggesting it may all very well not happen would be an actual speculation, and they have just decided not to do so, and stick with the facts, which is fair enough.

@Bart *************
You obviously didn't read the press release from the government! 😂😂😂. At no point did they say June 1st. That was Bangkok Post creating the first clickbait which other mediums picked up on!!!

You can stay in Thailand for 60 days without visa if you’re entitled to visa exemption, but it’s still only 30 days upon arrival which can extended with additional 30 days at your local immigration.

@Kim ***********
Ok, then it’s best and cheapest for you to apply for a 60 days tourist visa before you leave. It’s only approximately €35 and you don’t need to worry about any extension.

@Jan *****************
probably not even worth trying because the Paris embassy is terrible
Jan ******************
Ok, you see this
@Kim ***********
. You’re entitled to a 30 days free visa exemption and a 30 days extension at your local immigration at 1900 thb. I would advise you to call your airline and ask for their policy regarding onward ticket if you travel on visa exemption. You could risk that they require an onward ticket within 30 days for visa exemption and then your option is to purchase a cheap onward ticket to a nearby destination just to be sure.
