Those countries are hardly options against Thailand! They're all shitbox countries. How about Panama or Mexico if you're frightened of paying a few baht in tax! 😆
Keep in mind the proposed digital nomad visa is for a digital nomad, not someone living full time in the country setting up a business. The proposal is 180 days per year for five years. Even if you own a business in Thailand, you can't work in it if the job you are doing can be done by a Thai person. If you get married and you obtain the "married to a Thai" visa, this does allow you to obtain a work permit, but again, only for a job which cannot be done by a Thai person. You would better advised to speak with a lawyer in Thailand who is conversant with setting up a business
I was referring to the official Thai government Facebook page. There's plenty of other clickbait stories doing the rounds. This is one such story from last year that went no further. Unfortunately Thailand is notorious for individual ministers spouting stories which go no further once the government looks at the full ramifications
Interesting the only official announcement was on the PR Thai Government Facebook page, and this has now been removed. I'd say someone has done the maths and worked out they will lose millions of baht in lost revenue!
