TLDR : Answer Summary
Most respondents agree that obtaining a 30-day extension on the 30-day entry stamp in Thailand is straightforward, provided that one meets the necessary requirements. Key points include ensuring proper documentation, submitting the application ahead of the expiration deadline, and having a TM30 form prepared if required. It's noted that extensions are rarely denied unless there are unusual circumstances.

Using an agent might alleviate some of the worry about the process
not an issue with extensions, i been red flagged and pulled over at airport before and never an issue with extensions. Its actually different immigration departments the in country ones and border control

Never heard of one being denied unless there's an extenuating circumstance (like you've committed a crime and the police have petitioned for you to be removed from the country.)

It wil be helpful and faster if you print the extension form (you can download from thai immigration website) and fill it out and have your photos ready before you go to the immigration of the city where you stay. Also, you can book one night in a hotel and request them to do the TM30 for you and bring that TM30 copy/hotel receipt with you when you do the extension. The imm. officer will ask for that.

Just don't wait until the day before it expires. I've see 2 people be rejected at Immigration in Jomtien for coming in the day before expiration. Other IO's may not have this issue, but why chance it.

Rare to be rejected. Just make sure you have a TM30 on file if the immigration office requires it.
