you can't just stay here for 60, then exit and reenter.... they ask you for a reason. Onward travel helps, but you are taking a huge risk. An agent only costs a couple of thousand. Remember, if you enter by land, you can't do the extension, and by air you can only do 30 days extension once per year.

NO, this will not work. Firstly, the 60 is about to become 30, meaning you'd need to do 2 border trips. But, upon arriving back on the first one, you'll be refused entry unless you have a good reason ... not just tourism: Immigration don't want people 1 maxing out their stays, ie doing the full 60 and 2 re-entering, as 30 days is enough to see all of thailand. The possibility of staying even 3-4 months on engtry stamps is over, and has been since august|november last year when they made changes to their policy.

Reading your post is red-flag after red-flag after red-flag. You don't just move to a country without even knowing the right time of year to arrive, and shouldn't expect to work in your own profession when you don't speake the local language and would require any potential employer to pay you multiples of a local's salary and secure an expensive|difficult work permit for someone who might just leave if they don't quite like everything they thought would be dreamlike til they got here - 'mental health counselling' is just a fake field to be in for people who aren't actually qualified to do anything. You need to hold a 4-year degree and be from a native-speaking country to be able to land a job here with a 'living wage' salary but, remember, pay here is half what you get in other countries in the region, and it's not a cheap country to live in at all. If you are still reading after the reality check, ok: if you qualify for teaching work, you need to apply during April to start in May - use ajarn.com and kruteacher to apply, and see if you get any responses before heading out here. There is no such thing as a tourist visa - you arrive on a 30-day stamp which you can extend by a further 30 days: if you start a job immediately, that will give an employer the necessary time to prepare your papers for YOU to go to Laos and pay for your nonB visa which leads to your work permit [currently, you receive 60 days, but the government has already to decided to reduce it to 30, and that will be probably before you arrive here]. Being a new teacher isn't a problem, you can learn as you go, and your fellow teachers will advise you, show you where good teaching resources are, etc. If you have read all this, and you know you're one of the genuine people who will really come here and give teaching a shot, genuinely wish you GOOD LUCK and i hope it all goes really well for you.

You aren't fluent in English. You can't get your papers done for your visa and permit in Thailand. Plus, as an NNES, your pay here would be awful - around $600-800 per month, and you'd have to pay all your visa fees etc, anyway, which would mean you'd struggle to recover your initial outlay whilst working. Cambodia is possible, but real lack of jobs and awful pay for non-natives: plus, you will be exploited, due to their knowing your situation . . . schools will make you pay for all your own printing, etc, leaving you without enough money to even cover your monthly bills.

First off, you need to research your ways of staying, ie visas; the rules are about to change AGAIN, and using tourist entries is not viable in any way; Next, you need to do some very simple research: rents, costs of groceries, expenditure for your particular lifestyle and interests, any travel you'd like to carry out ongoing. Don't just ask people to give random answers instead of doing your own legwork - if you fail, or end up in a spot, nobody can have any sympathy for you.

why don't you just ask how much it costs to buy sth???? type of visa, the agent you use, your circumstances and documentation you can provided and so on and on and on. Ask a proper question please.

They are targetting exactly what you are doing, people who 'max out' their stays. You can enter as many times as you like, no maximum. However, the 60 is being reduced to 30, and you can only extend twice per year: 30, then the next entry 7, after that no more extensions. You could still do the 2 60s, only not back-to-back .... the policy is that 60 (not 30) is long enough for anyone to tour thailand, or to have any type of holiday. Unfortunately, you are one of the legitimate travellers who fall foul of their attempts to catch others who are abusing, I get you. So, now, you will have to forget thailand if you plan to do a 4-month stay, it will have to be somewhere like cambodia, vietname, malaysia.
