METV will give you 9 months if you time it right. Then two border bounces with 30 day extensions. But immigration may begin to question you.

The normal tourist visa is single entry. You can get the multi entry variant if you want to leave and return. Alternatively, just use 30 day visa waivers.

my understanding is that if you're giving a friend's address, you need a letter from them. Probably easier to just make a refundable booking on booking dot com or agoda and then cancel.

yes, because visa exemption is only 30 days

I did this last year as a Singapore citizen when I wanted to visit LOS for 90 days (60 + 30 day extension). It's free for Singapore citizens, apparently.

officially, the the temp license (which you get in the first 2 years) doesn't allow you to get an IDP or use it in other ASEAN countries. Unofficially, many cops in other South East Asian countries will accept the temp license.
