3 days. It was 2k in Phuket and 3k in Chiang Mai. Add one day to queue at DLT.

Contact local driving schools. Honda Safety Riding Park (in Chiang Mai, Phuket) come highly recommended, though there are other schools as well. Go through their training course and take the theory test on site. Once you pass you go to the local DLT, present your documents and they will issue the license.

METV will give you 9 months if you time it right. Then two border bounces with 30 day extensions. But immigration may begin to question you.

The normal tourist visa is single entry. You can get the multi entry variant if you want to leave and return. Alternatively, just use 30 day visa waivers.

my understanding is that if you're giving a friend's address, you need a letter from them. Probably easier to just make a refundable booking on booking dot com or agoda and then cancel.
