Review on getting a Thai Tourist visa in Singapore.

The short version: very easy if all documents are ready and you have 2 weeks time to hang in Singapore.

The long version: I applied for the 60 day single entry tourist visa. To get the visa apply first online on their website

[members only]

Create an account, then you need to fill out the application form, add a photo of you and upload ALL of the following documents:

1. Flight to Thailand

2. Flight out of Thailand no later than 60 days

3. Accommodation booking for the entire duration of your stay (if you stay 60 days you need for all of that). I used Agoda, booked 3 different hotels spread over 60 days and chose the option "pay later & free cancellation" so I wasn't charged. No proof of payment was asked.

4. Bank Account showing at least 1000S$ over the past 90 days. Amount must be in S$ or US$. Other currency statements need to submit a letter from the bank stating the balance equivalent to Singapore or US Dollars.

I used Revolut and converted the amount 90 days in advance to S$. Wise works too.

5. Singapore Arrival Card (which you apply up to 48 hrs before entering SG)

6. Singapore Visit Pass (which you receive via email once you have arrived in SG).

That's it. Then you'll wait. They won't email you, you gotta check back daily on the website to see if your documents have been reviewed. It takes 3-4 days. Then you'll see a note with whether your documents are complete - and if yes you'll be given dates you can come to the consulate.

I uploaded my docs & application on a Thursday (30 June) and by the following Wednesday I was given 2 appointment options: Thursday (6 July) or the week after that on Tuesday (11 July). The consulate is closed on Fridays.

I opted for Tuesday as I saw it too late and didn't have enough time to print all on a short notice. My bad.

So I went on Tuesday 11 July at 9am in the morning. The Thai Embassy in Singapore is very centrally located on 370 Orchard Rd. Nearest MRT is Orchard station. However, the entrance for visa matter is in the back of the building at Claymore Rd.

I got a number from the lady at the entrance, waited 30 min, then was called to the counter desk, gave them the application form and all the docs, paid 50S$ and was told to pick up the passport 2 days later on Thursday 13 July at 2pm. They gave me a pink receipt and told me to bring this paper for the pick up. So don't lose it! Picked up the passport today at 2pm and was in and out within 10 minutes.

So in total it took 14 days from the day of submission til passport pick up. Could have been less if I went for the first appointment. Probably not the fastest consulate but pretty smooth and straightforward. I was spending 3 weeks in Singapore so I had plenty of time to do it. Now ready to head to Thailand next week ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ญ

Hope this helps.โœŒ๏ธ

I did this last year as a Singapore citizen when I wanted to visit LOS for 90 days (60 + 30 day extension). It's free for Singapore citizens, apparently.

Hi...

So as a Singapore citizen, you have the option to apply for Tourist visa, eventhough being an ASEAN country the citizens can enter TH under visa exemption?
Adam *****
@Autumn ******
yes, because visa exemption is only 30 days

@Adam ****
I see. So by applying for tourist visa you got 90 days instead. Sounds good.

Did you have to provide proof of accommodation for the 60 days?

I wonder if giving a friend's address is acceptable.
Adam *****
@Autumn ******
my understanding is that if you're giving a friend's address, you need a letter from them. Probably easier to just make a refundable booking on booking dot com or agoda and then cancel.

Thanks!

It is a good embassy but does make its own interpretation of rules quite often.

But staff are good they went above and beyond during covid and got me as a farang on one of the first repatriation flights back into Thailand

I was between getting a visa here or in KL but KL asked for payment proof of accommodation and tax number of the hotel which made it rather difficult. Yes, obtaining a visa in Singapore takes time, so it's not for those who want it quick, but certainly an option to those who are planning a longer stay in Singapore.

What a complete insane crap....! For the questionable privilege to stay just 30 days longer in the land of stupidity and greed...! Fuck that, enjoy a month, cross the border into Lao, turn around and re-immigrate...! All free and quick, show the fucking Thai bureaucrats the finger! BTW: from August 15 on Vietnam will offer 3 months multiple entry visas....! Bye bye land of morons, good morning Vietnam ! ๐Ÿ™‚

each to their own. I don't have the time to go for a day to Laos so I was glad to get my visa here while chilling in Singapore. Each to their own. What works for one person might not work for another person. Good luck and peace to you โœŒ๏ธ

Waiting 2 weeks for this shit show and calling it: "smooth and straightforward" ??? Are you insane ? In Cambodia you give your passport to a travel agent with 5 USD and get it back in 4 days..., you don't even go to the embassy ! In Vientiane you submit your passport and pick it up with the visa the next day..., etc... You described the most stupid, complicated and utterly idiotic and unnecessary BS circus and are praising it ???

sounds like you're having anger management issues. I am sorry for what you have been through. I had a beautiful 3 weeks vacation in Singapore, so getting the visa while I was relaxing here was an easy task. I hope you'll find peace in Vietnam. โœŒ๏ธ

"sounds like you're having anger management issues." Yeah baby, totally ! People talking BS make me really angry. I see your good intentions, but obviously this is your first time experience and you have no idea what you are talking about. Knowing myself at least half a dozen Thai embassies..., I can assure you, I've never heard about such an insane shit show and 2 weeks waiting time.... LOL ! So the value of your post is actually a warning: AVOID THIS SHITTY EMBASSY AT ALL COST ! :-)
