Not really out outrageous. Unless you want to live in a shoebox... A 2 bedroom condo in Bangkok outside the city center is already around 20k Baht, $ 650 a month. And that is outside the city center.

The Thai consulate in NL says on their website that they issue these visa, and that it gives you access to Thailand. It seems to be a recent change. Point 7 in the list:

Unless you are targeting Thai customers, you are better off with a UK LTD or something similar. $50 and 10 minutes is all you need.

I just saw 2 posts in that "other group" where they quickly turned commenting off. Interesting discussions are stopped for no reason. I really don't understand why they do that.

I visited several and they all said to go to a branch near my condo. I went to the Krungsri in the Tesco Lotus at On Nut BTS. They opened an account for me without problems. This was some months ago. I only needed my passport and a 1 year rental contract.

In Netherlands it is a problem. No ME visa. In the Thai consulate in Belgium they still have ME visa. But they only help people who can prove that they are residents in Belgium. Maybe Vietnam, Laos or Cambodia can work, but it makes it much more difficult for me.

In a LOT of countries you cannot get Multi Entry visa anymore. Single Entry 2 months is everything you can get.
