if you're extending a tourist visa or visa exempt entry then just go tomorrow. The days are added onto your date admitted to stamp and not deducted by going early.

I guess it depends on who the employer is on whether they know already or not but ultimately they're going to be the ones who say yes you can switch in country or no you need to apply overseas.

I have no idea what a G7 Canadian passport is but with a normal Canadian passport you can cross the Malaysian land border.
