You get stamped into Thailand with the Non-O Visa which allows you to open a bank account and transfer the funds to season in time for the extension application, that's how

You cannot use the 65k per month method for a retirement Non-O Visa obtained in Thailand or for the first 12 month Extension of Stay unless your Embassy still does the income affidavit (USA, UK, Australia etc. do not).

The Three Tourism Entry Proofs

- proof of accommodation for at least your first few nights (hotel booking or a letter of invite from a Thai)

- proof of onward travel (international travel ticket leaving Thailand within your initial 60 day entry stamp exit by date)

- proof of funds (20,000 Baht or equivalent in any major currency in CASH per individual, or 40,000 for a family)
