What happens if I don't report my 90-day visa requirement while on a DTV visa in Thailand?

Hello everyone.

I have a DTV visa & I wanted to ask ONLY those who have tried and not speculations or "you must report man !":

Regarding the 90 days report.

I know that we are supposed to report at immigration, ok.

But what happens if I don't stay more than 6 months in Thailand and leave before.

At the airport they asked anyone who didn't report about it ? or no one asks ?

Did someone not report and at the airport they fined him or ask about it ?

Thanks and have a good day !

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion clarifies the responsibilities around the 90-day reporting requirement for those holding a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) in Thailand. While it is legally required to report every 90 days, many participants indicate that enforcement at the airport is lax, and failures to report typically lead to fines only when visiting an immigration office. There is consensus that as long as you leave Thailand before the six-month mark and report as required before re-entry, fines are unlikely, but risks remain, particularly related to future compliance.

90 days report has nothing to do with whether you stay for 6 months...
Frank *****
the 90 day date established is reset every time you re-enter Thailand. so if you leave before a reporting date, no issue.

The fact that you have a DTV means absolutely nothing. Your obligation is the same as everyone else and there isn't anything special about DTV. The officers at the airport have nothing to do with 90 day reporting and won't care leaving or entering Thailand. It's only at an immigration office that they might notice you missed reporting and fine you.
Steve *******
They don't care at the airports. At all.

I've tried to do my 90 Day report. Friday afternoon was swamped out. They are closed Sat/Sun/Monday & Tuesday. This means I am now in FINE time.
Steve *******
@Mike *****
Nope. You can report 14 days before it's due and up to 7 after without a fine
Mike ******
I was due on 25th May. Thought I'd wait till the end of the week knowing I had 7 days. Now suddenly they are gone. Old Age & Last-Minuteitis.

@Mike *****
well now your life is easy. The fine is the same whether you're 8 days late or 8 months late. So you don't have to think about 90-day report again until next time you're already going to immigration for something else. Just pay the fine at that time, as there's absolutely zero reason to go to immigration just to pay a fine. And if it saves you from another report or two in the meantime, it's an added bonus.

Thanks for this, Brandon. I'm going back tomorrow in the hope I will be excused the charge as they were closed. It seems a bit unnecessary as I'm going on holiday in 3 weeks which re-sets the 90 day clock.
Brandon ************
@Mike *****
they will not excuse the charge. There is a built-in 7 day grace period. If you failed to report you failed to report. 7 days more than makes up for weekends and holidays. There's no additional time granted for 90 day reports.

Just go on your holiday and then it's a
*****
chance they ever even notice you missed your report.

You’ll only be asked if you go to immigration for something the it’s 2000 baht fine no matter how many you missed the airport doesn’t care

Nobody askes at the airport. 90 days re sets on entry. Dont worry about it.

I had a friend who stayed 96 days on his DTV and did NOT report. I don't have him anymore. Make of that what you wish, but I would say it's not worth the risk. Do it online.
Graham ******
@Ni**
The only risk is a 2000B fine and usually the first report cannot be done online
Ni**
Wrong, as always that's up to the immigration officer. David was a great chap but never took Thai bureaucracy seriously. Life in the fast lane cost him his future.
Graham ******
@Ni**
Not wrong. Many people on 12 month extensions never do 90 day reports and just pay the 2000B every year with their new extension fee of 1900B.
Ni**
Depends on the immigration office and the immigration officer (IO) you're standing in front of.

Many pay 2000B; others pay the highest price. Not something to gamble with. Just follow the law.
Ruud ******************
Just follow the law, is easy
Graham ******
@Ruud *****************
The law requires you to report every 90 days or pay a 2000B fine, your choice.
Ruud ******************
@Graham *****
that’s what I say
Tony **********
It's your responsibility to report. Not sure of any dire consequences other than the fine, but why would you not take the hour it takes to comply?
Andy ************
Airport immigration don't care about 90-day reports, and the chances of getting picked up on it at a later date are a zillion to one against
