: agent services are great for anyone who doesn't want to run the risk of being denied for any reason, which can just as easily happen with DTV or SETV/METV depending on the IO of the day. Random enforcement of rules creates a sense of uncertainty that people can buy insurance for. Business.

you're spot on about the visa market. This is why anyone could do border runs and fast track for years without a single denial (to essentially live in Thailand non-stop), as long as they respect the trial/upgrade business model.

The 'rules are rules, get valid visa' NPC brain people with laminated DTVs can't possibly understand this, or why anyone would pay to be let in every time without worries.

No crackdown. Just business.

Depends on the immigration office and the immigration officer (IO) you're standing in front of.

Many pay 2000B; others pay the highest price. Not something to gamble with. Just follow the law.
Ni**
Wrong, as always that's up to the immigration officer. David was a great chap but never took Thai bureaucracy seriously. Life in the fast lane cost him his future.

I had a friend who stayed 96 days on his DTV and did NOT report. I don't have him anymore. Make of that what you wish, but I would say it's not worth the risk. Do it online.

Seems they are indeed cracking down on tourists who visit a lot.

But only those that don't pay for extra immigration services. Makes you wonder.
Ni**
Maybe, but it generates more revenue through the visa run industry under the guise of yet another crackdown. Luckily criminals can't afford these services so they will leave Thailand. Everyone happy!

Let's hope criminals don't have money for extra border runs and airport VIP deals!
