Hi JD. I'm not after the actual cash as such. As we all know there is a chance when entering Thailand you may need to show 20k. I'm doing a 2 month tour of Vietnam/Cambodia and I don't really want to walk around with 20k cash so was seeing if I could get travellers cheques instead for when I come back. I can't get them from home as I'm in Thailand already.
- I think I remember reading that CM won't do the 30 days straight off (I.e. If I get my 60 day stamp on a Monday then go to get my 30 day extension on the Tuesday). Am I making this up or is there something in it?!
Getting my METV from the UK I had to provide proof of onward travel within 6 months. I purchased an international ticket just shy of the 6 months mark. In hindsight I would now purchase a ticket that returned me to Thailand the day before the 'exit before' date on my visa (the date 6 months after issue) which would then have granted me a new 60 day stamp on entering.
It's not an issue of having the money, it's more that I don't want to wander around with 20k on me as I feel that might leave me vulnerable. I had to prove I had money in order to get the visa (£5k). I have a condo rental as well, and wasn't sure what would happen if they asked for the money and I didn't have it on me!
