You have to make a call, sms or add cash to the account every 6 months to keep a giff gaff sim active.

Oh and just set the local sim as primary so all calls and data use the local sim, but the giff gaff sim is still on and if someone calls that number or text it comes through as notmal.

New iphones can have upto 5 esims..

Use a uk Giff Gaff sim, add credit and as long as you either top up or send a text every 6 months no ongoing fees.

I have a giff gaff sim and a thai ais esim but giff gaff have recently started doing esims as well. Plus they will post a sim out to thailand for free!

Winner winner chicken dinner!

Your mistake is applying "common sense and logic" with anything to do with thai bureaucracy. The rules are the rules and generally never ever make sense..

me too, i rent but renovated and slowly extended the house, i have a great relationship with the owner and his family, 7 years and counting. Not for everyone but works for us. What ive spent so far is less than i would have if i had rented a completed house that was big enough so even if they kicked me out tomorrow it wouldnt matter financially.

My advice is to leave it all behind and just start afresh when you get there. Too much of a headache and im willing to wager that it will cost more than you calculate. What sort of visa are you planning on?
