I’ve herd they are scrapping quarantine hotel (1 day) on Dec 1 my flight is dec 21 is it worth waiting to see what happens before applying for the thailand pass and possibly not needing the quarantine hotel as it’s non refundable even if they change the rules

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the potential scrapping of the quarantine hotel requirement in Thailand, as they have heard rumors of changes effective December 1st. With a flight booked for December 21, they are contemplating whether to wait before applying for the Thailand Pass to avoid non-refundable hotel costs. Comments reveal mixed opinions on the likelihood of rule changes, with some suggesting it is too soon to conclude that quarantine will be eliminated. Others express concerns about the cost implications of hotel bookings and PCR testing, highlighting that even without quarantine, travel-related expenses will persist.

I would definitely wait till next month but in any case it's not a big deal... 90 euros for transportation from airport to hotel, three meals, one hotel night and one RT-PCR swab

For everyone who might be thinking of delaying departure past mid- December, don't forget Christmas Blackout dates (Dec 15th - Jan 3) prices tend to go way up. Even though the industry is in shambles at the moment, I just checked and they are indeed following trend. Safe travels everyone !

To be honest even if they scrap the quarantine you'll still have to pay the covid test costs... You'll probably only end up losing out on a slightly more expensive hotel than you could have gotten and the airport transfer

if there's no quarantine needed mate then the whole scheme will be scrapped and the hotels will stop doing 1 day quarantine so you cant choose to still do it

nothing is confirmed yet... Who knows what will happen... If I'm given the choice of loose 100 or go ahead with 1 night unnessesary quarantine... I'll stick with the quarantine... My trip is 66 nights in total ..

hello if the scrap it mate it will be a completely new scheme the hotle package is to include the PCR test and taxi pickup its not refundable, if they change the scheme there will be a payment on arrival for a PCR test at the airport so will be completely separate scheme than the 1 day quarantine hotel

as its a complete ripp off thats why, 90 euros could get you 2x good nights in a nice hotel, if they cancel the scheme they should refund all you paid

I understand but I forked out 1180 euros in january for 15 nights quarantine so I am glad I am paying only 90 euros for one night, three meals, one RT-PCR test and transportation from airport to hotel. I don't call that a rip off even if I lose my money

I'm not sure... In my case I paid 3800thb (end of December) the cheapest PCR test is apx 2000thb with
@DrDonna *********
... And the transfer from airport would be (according to my invoice from AQ hotel) 1000thb... Instead of 35thb on the train. Making the accommodation about 800thb including food... Meaning I've lost just under 1000thb if they scrap the quarantine... I think my hotel has a refund policy until 5 days before travel but need to double check that one

Maybe because Cambodia is allowing entry without quarantine as of yesterday. The process is a whole lot simpler than Thailand.

But according to the Cambodian Government, Cambodia has achieved "Herd Immunity."

Don't think Thailand is anywhere close to that.

Still, they don't want their Tourists going elsewhere because it is easier.

They will have a meeting about having a meeting to discuss changing PCR on arrival to ATK without hotel. However the meeting about having a meeting has not been scheduled so maybe or maybe not or could be possible if they have a meeting to discuss it is the current answer 👍
