You’ll need to apply for an import license through the Thai Veterinary Authority (
****************************************************************************
(this link is for Bangkok, there’s other email address when flying into Phuket). They will also tell you what their requirements are in regards to vaccinations, passport, health certificate from the origin country (cannot be older than 10 days, most airlines will also require this), etc.

Check the requirements of the airline you’re flying with.

Check what is needed to bring your dog back to the US. Probably you’ll need to do a titer test, best to do this before you leave for Thailand.

It’s all a bit of paperwork, but I always find the people at the Thai veterinary authority very helpful (I’ve traveled back and forth with my cat a few times, to EU)

I saw a post (not sure if it was in this group or another) from someone who successfully got the DTV in Vientiane for medical treatment (they had a treatment plan written and stamped by their doctor)

you can fly with pet in cabin from the UK, just not into the UK. You can arrive with your cat on a visa exempt or tourist visa, no problem. Don’t fly your cat in hold or in cargo, it will traumatize him.

KLM and Turkish Airlines are very cat-friendly, I always use them. Fly back and forth with my cat regularly

I’ve flown my (Thai) cat back and forth a few times (EU-Thailand) always in cabin. If any way possible always have your pet with you in cabin!!!

Make sure all the paperwork is in order, you’ll walk out of the airport with your dog, no problem.

Tick & flea drops, regular worm treatment and always keep an eye on the dog as it’s not used to Thai dog life, snakes, scorpions and other critters

You could try to get in touch with the guys (all farang) that own Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA (in Phuket), they all used to work at Tiger until they started their own gym last year. I bet they can give you some advice on where to look and how the visa thing would work.

I’ve been hassled at Suvarnabhumi too. I guess it really depends on the IO in front of you and their mood du jour 😞

and the most stupid thing is, why do land borders even require the TM.6? You don’t need it anymore when you fly in? One of the many things here that makes no sense 😏

@Paul ******
they charge for this because they can. What else would I do, say no and run the risk of being denied entry? Other land borders would allow you to go back into Lao/Cambodia/Malaysia and find another way to get to TH, this one they know you’re literally backed into a corner, so they can charge whatever they want 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was just happy to be able to enter TH again and also happy not to have to spend 14+ hours in a minivan driving up and down to Malaysia 😏

I was told you can reach the Mergui archipelago from Kawthaung but there’s also fighting ongoing about 60km from Kawthaung so caution is advised
