I’ve heard if you leave by a land crossing they have recently told some they need to leave for two days, but it seems very dependent on who you get at the border. By air I think it’s less problematic. While there are crack downs happening it’s hard to get a solid answer as you’ll get a mix of people coming in with no issue, and others not as lucky. It’s not as consistent or reliable at the moment.

The official requirement is just to leave and return, there is no stated amount of time that you are required to not be in Thailand.

Some people have reported being told they need to leave Thailand for at least two nights. These reports seem to be timed with the crack down on people doing border runs. But this is at the immigration officers discretion, there isn’t anything (I believe) that they can point to that states anywhere that you need to leave for a minimum duration.

If you use an agent and are paying fees for their service then it’s likely you will have no issue. As an individual coming in and out there is always a possibility of the immigration officer stating you can’t do it same day.

Hi, I have the DTV visa and at no point during my application was I told the money needed to remain untouched. I know if you resubmit paperwork to do the 180 day extension they will need to see the required finances, but for myself I will travel every 180 days and get a new stamp.

I have heard of people having trouble with their application when the money has been in a Wise account as this isn’t technically a bank, it’s a FinTech company. Hopefully someone in the comments can share more direct experience on that.

People can only respond based on their experience, it’s the immigration officer you meet on the day that decides.

My first year here I had a work permit, once that contract ended I traveled in and out the country on visa exemption for around 9months before relocating. Two years passed before I returned and I had a lot of trouble getting back in because of my stamps. This was just for a two week stay and I had proof of onward travel/accommodation.

As far as I’m aware there are only a few places in country where you can get an education visa processed when you’ve entered on visa exemption. Hua Hin for example. Most require you to process the visa outside of Thailand so it might be better for you to process the visa in your home country first.

I got my DTV from the London Embassy and was required to show three months of bank statements, but I applied as a freelancer, not under soft power. My salary and savings are in separate accounts and I needed to show three months of statements for both of those accounts.

I think it’s on a case by case basis and you won’t necessarily be asked to provide the same. Send what you have, but be prepared to be asked for further documentation. I sent everything that was asked on the application, and was asked for more.
