I plan to move to Thailand in February 2027 and apply for Non O-A Visa 90 days prior to my arrival. I was hoping that someone could clarify this for me. When they ask for proof of insurance when I apply for my visa, do I have to provide my current US health insurance provider? Or, do I have to acquire approved Thai health care insurance? I really don't want to have to pay my premiums in the US and have insurance premiums in Thailand and I've not arrived yet. Maybe I'm overthinking this too much. Kind replies are appreciated.

Has anyone applied via soft power route at Kuala Lumpur (KL)? I have not been able to find any posts regarding this. I'm wondering what the requirements may be and how others have found apply via this route at KL? Thank you.

Hi all,

Planning to apply DTV Soft Power (Muay Thai) at Thai Embassy in Hanoi.

When submitting bank statements in Hanoi, did you only provide the ending balance / summary version, or did you need to include full transaction history?

Any recent 2026 experiences? Thanks!

Is the Muay Thai school's gym registration certificate (ie. not business registration) needed as part of the application? My school hasn't provided that (I'm using Bangkok Fight Lab)

Hey, I just got a reply:

Other request documents: Employment contract or employment certificate in their country or professional portfolio showcasing digital nomad, remote worker, foreign talent or freelancer status

I have my own abn (Australian business number) for 15 years, running a small web design agency. In my cover letter I gave them a link to my business website (portfolio is at the bottom). I also attached some recent invoices showing the work completed.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm looking at getting the Thai DTV and have some questions about the information that must be provided. Also, I'm not sure if my situation is a bit complicated so I'll detail it here as best I can.

I currently have a remote job and I have everything required to apply for the DTV as a digital nomad at the moment (a job contract and the equivalent of 500k baht). However, I keep reading that I will need to provide 3-6 months worth of bank statements with the application, which I can do. However, I haven't had the equivalent of 500k baht in my bank account prior to this month and only met this financial target at the end of February. Do applicants need to have held this amount for at least 3-6 months before applying, or do you just need to show that you have it at the time of application?

I'm also reading that different embassies are selective about this, and the information I'm getting online is very varied. I'm currently in SEA at the moment (Malaysia right now and I will likely go to Vietnam next).

Knowing this is important because I am in the midst of wanting to leave my job and start my own business, which I'm in the process of currently. I know I can also apply for the DTV with a registered business, which I'm hoping I'd be able to do later this year if I don't do it while still holding my current job. I suppose I figured that while I do still have my job, it'd be good to get the visa before I make the transition (since I currently do have a valid employment contract). It isn't my plan to stay in the job for another 3-6 months, as I am already speaking with potential clients.

Basically what I want to know is do I need to wait until I've held 500k baht in my account for at least 3-6 months, or would I be able to apply sooner? Also, I'm from Canada (if anyone is wondering about my nationality).

Hi everyone — hoping someone here has experience with this.

1. Can you withdraw an application? I've accepted I won't get my application fee back.

2. If not, can I go to another country an re-apply (basically with 2 active applications).

I currently have a DTV application in process through Kuala Lumpur, but they came back requesting additional documentation that is difficult for me to obtain even though I have everything. (minimum 6-month lease proof, contracts certfied by the embassy, etc...). From what I’ve seen online, KL seems to be one of the stricter posts. All the original requirements, I have along with the minumum funds amount.

I’m considering traveling to Bali and submitting a new DTV application there, since I’ve heard Indonesia tends to process them faster and with more straightforward document requirements.

My question is:

Has anyone successfully submitted a second DTV application in another country while an earlier one was still pending elsewhere?

I’m trying to avoid a formal rejection on my record if possible, but I’m not sure if the system allows two active applications tied to the same passport.

If anyone has firsthand experience with this (KL → Bali / another consulate), I’d really appreciate hearing how it worked.

Thanks in advance.

I am going to try to reach out to "withdraw" but not sure this will work. However, I am confident I will get approved quickly in Indonesia.

Just an FYI people. Pal is applying for DTV in Hanoi and they have just requested 3 months bank statements so looks like they could be tightening up on applications. May be case dependent obviously so this is just an FYI!

May I know financial standing statement is needed for DTV? Or 6 month bank transaction is enough?

Can anybody guide me in the right direction for obtaining a soft power DTV visa? Specifically going the medical route, as I don’t have much interest in Muay Thai. I’m not employed overseas, I get income from school scholarships. I know I will have to leave Thailand to apply. I just want to have the 6+ months of approved activities figured out completely. I have everything else in line, just wondering how to get the 6 months of the activity.
