Please drop by the BOI one-stop center in Chamchuri Square and tell them they have been issuing illegal visas and work permits for years then, they might not be aware of that and you can finally set the record straight.

That's why I explicitly mentioned the reality of years working with the BOI. But if you believe you're right, knock yourself out. Next time they approve one of our work permits I tell them that JD in in Ao Nang does not agree with them.

"If your company qualifies for Board of Investment promotion, the ratios of foreigners to Thai staff is set based on the companies needs, not a regulation." —

or "Ratio of Thai to Foreign Employees Negotiable based on requirements* *Exact ratio will depend on the company. You can apply for the ratio you desire. "

This is line with the experience at both my previous company that was a BOI company as well as the company I currently manage which is also a BOI company. For every foreigner we employ we must request a position with the BOI, detailing why we need this person/showing their qualifications. Once the BOI approves we can hire them. And no, nobody in my previous company or my current company in any way is a "digital nomad skirting the law".

A lot of airlines lump all of these things together under a generic "Fees" entry (my next booking does for example). Some as shown above do a more precise breakdown.

It's on the website of AOT (Airports Of Thailand) in case you want a more reliable source:

"Passenger service charges shall be collected from the departing passengers two years of age and over."

***********************************************************************

See "Passenger Service Charges" at the bottom. Generally airlines list it separately as part of the fees (either airport fees, or passenger service charge as in the screenshot above).

@Tod ********
Its a minimum of 3 years of uninterrupted extensions of stay at the time you apply. It can be done on any Non-Immigrant visa and there are other categories than work (investment, expert/academic, and family support). I wanted to apply at the end of this year, but then I changed job so I'm on a new Non-B and my 3 year counter reset.

I'm not sure why people get so hung up on Thai immigration using the word "alien". Here are two dictionary definitions that should make it clear that it's a perfectly appropriate term: "belonging to a foreign country or nation." & "a foreigner, especially one who is not a naturalized citizen of the country where they are living.".

You're regarding the overstay though:

These rules apply to the Alien giving himself up at immigration and are as follows :

Overstay more than 90 Days – 1 year ban from Thailand

Overstay more than 1 Year – 3 year ban from Thailand

Overstay more than 3 Years – 5 year ban from Thailand

Overstay more than 5 Years – 10 year ban from Thailand

Arrested & Found To Be On Overstay- Apprehended !

Overstay less than 1 Year – 5 year ban from Thailand

Overstay more than 1 Year – 10 year ban from Thailand

Happens all over the world: in 2013 I entered Bolivia on February 2nd. Somehow the geniuses at the border crossing stamped me in for January 2nd instead. Headed to the nearest immigration office, showed them my Argentinian exit stamp and had it corrected.

You're probably fine if you leave before June 16th this year, it's pretty obvious this wasn't your mistake. But just in case I'd go back to immigration and have the stamp fixed, better safe than sorry when it comes to visa issues.
