Can I fly out of Thailand and back in the same day to obtain a new 30-day tourist visa?

Fly in/out same day (tourist visa) - I've just extended my most recent 60 day tourist visa by another 30 days, but need another 4 days before I fly out to Bali. I don't want to overstay and I'm not super keen on doing an overland visa run so I'm hoping to fly out (to KL/Sin) and back same day to get another 30 day stamp.

Any reason this might not be ok? (I haven't done same day flights before). I have a confirmed flight from Phuket to Bali for 9th June. Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on whether flying out of Thailand and returning the same day can grant them a new 30-day tourist visa, as their current visa is about to expire. The community provides insights into visa extension options, risks associated with overstaying, and the costs involved. They mention that it is possible to extend the visa for an additional 7 days at immigration for 1,900 baht, but emphasize that overstaying is not advisable due to potential issues with immigration and police.

every single "extension of stay" no matter the length of time it's granted for is 1900baht, even the "extension denied" 7 days to get outta thailand stamp is 1900baht.

Thanks - would love clarification on whether the 1900 applies again or not? If it applies still, then it's actually cheaper for me to just fly out anyway since I'll already be flying from Phuket - Chiang Mai and could just take a flight from Chiang Mai via KL on the return to Phuket

KL is a lousy place.

Extended ours by 7 days only 2 weeks ago. Fee is 1900 baht.

True that

Yes it does. But you burn less fossil fuel and less of your own time.

Yes, get 7days extra extension at Immigration, it costs 1,900 baht.

Better not to have overstay stamp on your passport (4 days overstay would cost 2,000 baht) and if for any reason you should be stopped by Police during those 4 days, could have big problems.

It's because I'm from another planet.

I'm not sure why people get so hung up on Thai immigration using the word "alien". Here are two dictionary definitions that should make it clear that it's a perfectly appropriate term: "belonging to a foreign country or nation." & "a foreigner, especially one who is not a naturalized citizen of the country where they are living.".

You're regarding the overstay though:

These rules apply to the Alien giving himself up at immigration and are as follows :

Overstay more than 90 Days – 1 year ban from Thailand

Overstay more than 1 Year – 3 year ban from Thailand

Overstay more than 3 Years – 5 year ban from Thailand

Overstay more than 5 Years – 10 year ban from Thailand

Arrested & Found To Be On Overstay- Apprehended !

Overstay less than 1 Year – 5 year ban from Thailand

Overstay more than 1 Year – 10 year ban from Thailand

Although that's for aliens, it doesn't say what the rule is for human beings.
Magnus **********
Yeah apparently if the police catch you in those four days it's a five year ban!!!

Yes u get 7 more days and no more 1900bht.
Paul **********
No more days after the 7 days, then you have to leave country
Marco *********
Why no more 1,900 ?
Magnus **********
You can extend by another 7 days. I did it and they celebrated because people rarely do it. So just head to Phuket Immo. You can even do it any time in your last 15 days or so I think, so plenty of time for an alternate plan if it's no good.

Even then you may as well just overstay and pay the fine, it's not a big deal.

It is never a good idea to overstay your visa and get a stamp in your passport.

Yup.
