Went to Chaeng Watthana today to get a 12 months extension of stay based on marriage. I'm on the multi-entry Non-O and my current entry expires this Sunday, but I didn't want to rely on the amnesty or risk an unclear travel situation after July 31st.

We arrived at 7:30am, were told they are already out of queue numbers and we should wait. We were let in at 8:30am and got queue number 24.

Documents asked:

1. My passport, arrival card (TM.6), last entry stamp. Original and signed copy.

2. Marriage certificates both in original and signed copies. You need both the pretty (KR.3) and the official one (KR.2).

3. My "single certificate" (the document I got from my embassy that allowed us to get married in the first place). The 1111 hotline said to just let the officer know if we don't have that anymore, but we did, so not sure how important it really is.

4. My wife's ID card and tabien baan (original and signed copy).

5. Copy of my rental contract. Also a signed copy of my landlord's ID and tabien baan.

6. Bank book: original book and copies of the first page (the one with your name) and the pages covering the last 2 months to proof you had over 400k the entire time. 1111 said they want it updated on the day of the application, so I withdrew this morning from an ATM on the basement floor of the government complex and updated my bank book there. I also had a signed and stamped letter from my bank stating that I had the required amount.

7. TM.30 original and copy. I didn't have one, since I was with the BOI the last few years and nobody at Chamchurri Square ever bothered with it. So I went to a different queue and did that (see Tod's post on how to self file in Bangkok). They required copies of my passport, entry stamp, TM.6, rental contract and a signed copy of my landlord's ID and tabien baan (they accepted a copy of the copy we brought for the visa). I had to pay an 800 Baht fine and needed to take a copy of the receipt and the TM.30 slip for the visa application.

8. A hand drawn map of our condo's location.

9. The application form (TM.7). You can download it here:

10. One photo for the application form (6x4cm) and photos of me and my wife showing our house number and us inside our condo (2 of each). They made us glue the photos to empty A4 pages, so you can prepare that home if you want.

My wife had to come along and they asked her a few questions, like how we met, etc. We were all done at 10:40am and my pickup date is June 23rd.

As always, check specific requirements with your local immigration office, sign all copies and better bring spares/any other document that seems remotely useful just in case.
