Title: DTV Rejected for “Missing suffix (Jr.)” — Questions about name format + financial proof (IRA)

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an issue I ran into and ask two quick questions.

I recently applied for the Thailand DTV visa and was rejected, with the rejection reason stating:

“Missing suffix on the last name on the application.”

My passport name includes “Jr.”, but the application form did not have a dedicated suffix field, so I entered my last name without it. I now realize they wanted “Jr.” included anyway (likely in the last name field).

Question 1 (Name / Jr. issue):

For anyone with “Jr.” on their passport, how did you enter it on the DTV application?

Did you put it as Last Name: LASTNAME JR or LASTNAME, JR?

Also — since the rejection was specifically for the missing suffix, do they usually stop reviewing the application immediately, or do they still review the rest of the documents before rejecting?

Question 2 (Financial proof / IRA):

I don’t keep 500,000 THB (or $17,000 USD) sitting in my checking account. Most of my funds are in an IRA (well above the minimum requirement).

Has anyone successfully used IRA / brokerage statements as proof of funds for DTV, or do they automatically reject unless it’s a personal checking/savings account with 3 months history?

Do they request additional documents, or is it usually an immediate denial if the funds aren’t in a regular bank account?

Thanks in advance — hoping this helps someone else avoid the same mistake.
