Will not using my Thai tourist visa affect my future DTV application?

Hi everyone,

I’m an Iraqi citizen and I currently have a Thai tourist visa, but I have never entered Thailand before. My flight is in 5 days, but I’m considering cancelling my trip and applying for the DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) in January instead.

My original plan was to enter Thailand on the tourist visa and later apply for the DTV from another country.but for new rules I changed plan

My questions are:

1. Could not using my current tourist visa and not entering Thailand have any negative impact on my future DTV application in January?

2. Since there is no Thai embassy in Iraq and Iraqi visa applications are handled  in Amman - Jordan through the relevant Thai mission abroad, does the DTV application for Iraqi citizens require an in-person interview at any stage, or is the application normally handled online unless the embassy specifically requests an interview?

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with the DTV application process, especially applicants from countries where there is no Thai embassy.

You have read some advices about doing the Trip. my opinionis the same. use the tourist visa and enjoy Thailand. Why? because I doubt that it will be possible for you to get a DTV. you have to do it in the country of your residency and nationality beside the criminal record certificate. So even if Aman is handling visa stuff I doubt they can provide the wished visa for you by now.

I don't see a reason to cancel your trip; in fact, it will show that you have some experience in Thailand. You cannot apply for a DTV until your current visa expires. If you are applying as a remote worker, then you must declare that you are not doing any work for Thai companies

I wonder why you want to cancel your trip in five days? Just do the trip and when you are back home apply for the DTV.

There is no disadvantage for the DTV application when you go to Thailand now by using your tourist visa. Follow the rules and everything will be fine.

It is quite difficult for people of your nationality to obtain a DTV visa. You will also need to show proof of funds of at least 500,000 THB and apply for the visa from the country where you currently reside. At the moment, the requirements for DTV visas seem to be getting stricter.
