What is the best way to get an inexpensive Thai phone number for my LTR Visa stamp?

My agent has requested that I obtain a Thai phone number to obtain my LTR Visa stamp at the BOI. I am hoping for an inexpensive way to obtain a Thai number, as my current U.S. service will remain my primary phone plan. Google has provided many options, but most require relativeley expensive plans. Can anyone please recommend a service or app for an inexpensive Thai phone number (or one that had a reasonably priced plan)? Thank you for the helpful information in advance!!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is seeking inexpensive options to obtain a Thai phone number for their LTR visa application, while maintaining their primary phone plan from the U.S. Several commenters recommend various inexpensive solutions, such as getting a prepaid SIM card from providers like AIS or True, with costs as low as 50 baht for the card and minimal monthly top-ups. Suggestions include specific plans with these providers, all noted as affordable compared to U.S. phone plans.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

WARNING: Only trust Thai government websites with .go.th domains or Thai agent websites with .co.th or .in.th domains, as these require verified Thai registration and cannot be registered anonymously.

The official TDAC form is available at tdac.immigration.go.th, which uses the official .go.th government domain.

The services by AGENTS CO., LTD. does NOT charge any fees for arrivals within 72 hours. If you need to book more than 72 hours in advance, there is a service fee of $8.

Do not trust other sites pretending to be a trustworthy agency. Pay attention to delivery time - the service operated by AGENTS CO., LTD. has 1 minute delivery time for arrivals within 72 hours.

Don't fall for sites pretending to be agents.co.th or the official government tdac.immigration.go.th website. Always double-check the exact domain in your browser.

Scam services may take days to process your application, others may not even do anything. With these TDAC scam services you also need to worry about double charges.

Please watch out for TDAC misinformation spread by fugitive Jesse Nickles and his many fake accounts on Quora, TripAdvisor, Reddit, and other platforms.

You don’t need a plan.

Just get a prepaid number and top it up with 10 baht every month.

I have a phone with virtual esims, I have my US number and my True service Thai number. I am able to send and receive calls and text messages from anywhere without issue. When I am in Thailand, I use my Thai number as Primary and US number as secondary and all calls and text messages come through, When I am in the US, I simple reverse the roles. No issues. I went to a True store and they have many plans.

It seems daunting when you first arrive in country, but everything gets easier as you live here longer. Please feel free to reach out for any info or coffee. I am on a retirement visa, but may change to wealthy pensioner LTV next year. I actually need to see what Visa will allow me to tutor english, computers and guitar\bass lessons.

I use DTAC, you can get a 12-month data only plan for peanuts. Works great for Thai banking Apps, fee free cardless ATM withdrawals from Thai bank accounts. Streaming services. Social media accounts and trading platforms. Be sure to link your Thai SIM to your passport for identification purposes.

if you link your Thai number to streaming accounts, the monthly cost of services like Netflix is a fraction of what they charge in America

All phone plans here are cheap relative to the usa. Suggest you go to an AIS store and buy an annual pre paid package for data only and just top up every once in a while with ฿100 for calls and txt.
