Can I apply for a Non-O visa annually while living in Japan?

Non O 90 days visa is it possible to get one once a year?

I am now on non O 1 year extension until September 26 2026.

After 3 months in Thai, on that extension, I do not really see why would I be in Thai for longer than that.

While on that Non O extension, I got my Yellow Book, Thai Pink ID (for foreigners), Thai Driving licence and Kasikorn bank account.

I own our condo in Bangkok, no rent. Never change my address, no new TM30.

The scenario would be: stay in Thai July-August-September (on the current Non O extension), return to Japan (where we own our condo) and come again (after that Non O exipres) for 60 days visa exempt (January-February).

Then, apply for another Non O to stay in Thai 90 days (July-August-September).

My wife, (local marriage in Thai) is Thai national.

Can I get a new Non -O every year, once per year , and then return after several months absence from Thai, on a 60 days exemption?

That way, I think, my 850K THB in my Kasikorn account could be used for daily expenses, might last for years. Not frozen with the bank and Immigration, while I do not want to be in Thai for the whole year.

We live in Japan, the place is as central as the Lumpini park in Bangkok, a desirable place to live at.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of applying for a Non-O visa each year to spend a few months in Thailand while currently on a one-year extension. They propose a plan involving a 60-day visa exemption followed by another Non-O visa after leaving the country. Community responses suggest various visa strategies, the importance of the spouse's citizenship in the visa process, and some mention requirements regarding funds in the bank for visa applications.

That was my initial question. If Non O is possible more than once a year, 2 x Non O would suit me perfectly and I can chew on my 850K THB in Kasikorn for years ahead. And never ever do neither TM30 nor 90 days report.

December-January-February

July-August-September

Just beware that if you apply outside TH for a new non-immi O you will have to upload proof of 800k in either home or Thaibank for the last 3 months before application everytime

Last time home bank 3 months statement was attached to the eVisa application. That eVisa gave me 3 months stamp.

If you married can apply for filmily O Visa and can show only 400 000 THB.To apply for NON- O visa you need a marriage certificate.

A letter from your wife.

A copy of Blue Book from your wife

And a bank statement showing a balance of 400,000 baht.

That is what I did for my initial Non O visa from Japan.

Once in Thai on that visa, opened Kasikorn bank account, 850K THB in my Thai bank account.

There is the possibility, if the IO knows you have a Thai spouse, they will insist you get the proper visa. This happened to me last year at CNX.

Even if they know I have a Thai wife (how would they know unless I tell them and present our marriage certificate) , am I obliged to go the marriage visa path? Why the hell I would be forced to do that?

How could existence of my Thai wife possibly invalidate my regular Non O visa?

Just an FYI at the immigration office that I go to in Phichit, where my Thai wife and I live, I asked the immigration officer if we go on holiday do I have to fill out a new TM 30? He told me no you only have to fill out a new TM 30 if you leave the country even if you return to the same house. So every October when my wife and I come back our first stop is the next day after our return is go to Immigration to fill out a TM 30. just thought I would mention that since you had mentioned it in your post.

Get the non-o based on marriage it’s only 400k and you don’t need it in the bank all year
Ian ********
He doesn’t need any money in a Thai bank under his plan

@Ian *******
400k in a Thai bank for two months then it’s yours not the same as retirement why would he not do it then he’s good for a year no stress worrying about being denied

No, not marriage based visa/stay.

@Jim ******
why not? It seems to be the best solution. You get a one-year stay permit base on being married to a Thai wife, buy a multi re-entry permit for it and can exit and re-enter Thailand as many times you wish during the 1-year extended stay permit. You won#t need to park the money in a Thai bank account all year round, you can use it for living expenses

Thanks for your reply, it does make sense. The 850K THB already there.

I do not want any dependency on my Thai wife. Indeed, what if I am not merried? That kind of Non Visa is not asking for that.

This could be a completely new post:

Rarely reported.

My Thai wife does not want to stay in Thai. Our 2BR resort home in Thai. She wants to stay in Japan (3 BR home) and work in Japan (Perm Resident).

Our daughter neither. She does not want to stay in Thai nor in Japan, she (a student,( 21) does not want to leave Australia.

What a ridiculous situation, it all started from Thai in the year 2000.

Me, Australian, wife Thai, daughter born in Bangkok, legal marriage, we live in Japan, daughter in Australia.

Only me pushing for Thai.

Man, you have not seen this before. Thai nationals do not want to set foot into Thai again. I am trying to drag them into our (their too, they have the Blue Book) Hawaii like residence.

Not making excuses, I was shocked and I still am, that my Thai family does not want to see Thailand again.

yet, I am understanding your point - a "married extension" is too complicated, as it will need the presence of your Thai wife and a residency on Thailand in a house or condo registered to your Thai wife or you. That leaves the "retirement extension" as he easiest as you can apply without the need of your wife being present

@Jim ******
quite an interesting curriculum vitae you got there 😎. . . . are you already over 50 years old? So ideally, the minimum of 800,000 THB in your Thai bank account, secured in case of your demise by a Thai last Will, and the annual 1-year extension of the stay permit, including a multi re-entry permit for 3800 Baht for every 1-year EoS, seems to be the easiest to handle solution for you.

your making excuses

If that's your plan just go visa exempt. You'll get 60 days then extend for 30, fly to Japan and return and get another 60. This is still within the new rules no sweat. You're wasting way to much money doing it the non o way

While it's at the discretion of the embassy, there's no reason that shouldn't work.
