Hello Everyone...

I have a question for you. I have been living in Thailand for a while now. I'm from America. My dad is 81 and still living in America. I would like him to come and live here in Thailand with me.

He is covered through his VA in America for all of his medical issues which are many at his age. If he comes to live her is there a VA in Thailand that will pay for his medical issues. Does anyone have experience with this?

TIA
Summary so far
The user seeks information regarding their elderly father's ability to use VA (Veterans Affairs) medical benefits in Thailand after moving there from the USA. They inquire whether there is a VA facility or service in Thailand that would cover medical expenses for their father.

I'm on workcation, in 14 months I will gain access to my retirement pension at this point I intend to stop working. Will likely move to LTR-Wealthy Pensioner category.

Cooking classes for 5 years is a fallacy.

If you are an actual digital nomad or work cation i dont see why not. Cooking classes not so much

Your question is too difficult to answer, other than choose another type of visa at that time.

Five more years of cooking class?

Good chance they'll ditch softies based on it's initial 5 year program which clearly is not in sync with short term courses hence the issuance of month METV's taking its place for some. Remote and Freelancers having ongoing income will end up having more long-term stability and economic benefits to the program.

Go back to tourist visa. Anyone who thought dTV meant permanent residency obviously didn’t research how Thailand evs and flows

I would assume after the DTV expires you re-apply again like you did the first time. However you would fall under the new rules of course

SunnyBlueberry3394 really just went there for a 3day trip to reset the dtv, found it not even 1% of Bangkok let alone Thailand. In terms of development, night scene, quality of tourists, alcohol tax, crowd ( huge influx of worker population, the markets were also run by them, and by contrast they were rude and ill mannered ) the locals were good. Only thing good I found was food, which was quite different. So would you care to explain what i missed?

Anonym deltagare 872 Well, where were you at? Regarding development I really don't see what you mean? There is plenty of luxurious malls, parks, public transportation and the hotel standard is pretty much the same. Also considered safe for traveller's within the limits of common sense. It's another culture with alot of Arab and Indian people making their living there, not to forget a Muslim country. It's another way of socialize. I would not say they are rude, but more reserved compared to the always smiling "hello welcome" that we are used to from Thailand.

No idea what the official word is on this. I have always assumed we won’t be able to renew but that is merely my assumption

They don’t even know yet, how are we supposed to know? All we can know is to prepare for it not to be an option, just in case, because literally anything could happen.

Has always been my main question. Can dtv be renewed after 5 years? Rules changes this fast in thailand. It's insane...
Christer *****

Anonymous participant 306 It's a time limited tourist visa. When it runs out you apply for a new one; whatever the flavour is at that time

yeah, more farangs after 5 years will know how to per-fect green curries than the locals.

Perhaps it's because you can have a proper ED visa for that? Sign up with a school/university with a curriculum and lessons every week.

I still have no idea why they prefer people to learn Thai food than learn the Thai language!

Anonieme deelnemer 306 More than 5 years softpower does not seem very realistic.

And when Thailand does not offer the digital nomad option anymore, then just skip Thailand and stay only in the other countries you already did stay as a digital nomad.

Anonymous participant 306 The rules don't really change all that fast though.

There's just a lot of media coverage every time someone thinks about changing things, even if nothing actually happens.

Anonymous participant 306 doubt you'll be able to just renew/extend it. My guess is if it's still available you will need to apply all over again for a new one.

We'll see in 2

to 3 years.
