Not sure if this the right group to ask but the gang here is so knowledgeable. Do I need to bring visa and/or US passport and/or other papers to the hospital when my child is born? One site said I needed to have my passport "certified"?(people must mean a certified COPY) And the copy officially translated by MFA so my name could go on the birth certificate? Doctors and nurses at the clinic also had different answers. If it's too far off topic I apologize.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience around what is required to obtain dual citizenship? More specifically, has anyone ever had to acquire a birth certificate in Thailand.

My situation: I was born in 1973 on a US Army base in Bangkok. I had a US birth certificate but also remember seeing a Thai birth certificate at one point. Both of my parents have passed away and I am looking at the possibility of moving to Thailand to try and connect with my heritage. Anyone else the child of someone from the military? My mother was a Thai native and my father was in the US Army until they brought me to the US in 1974.

Going to register my 4 mo. old baby's birth with the US embassy. I'm American and my wife is Thai. My wife and son will be traveling to America in the future. Do i (should I) need to apply for a US passport for him as well? He will be close to 1 year old when going to America. I didn't know if age played any part in this or not. Anyone go through this? Anyone in this group who has any children that are half Thai, that can advise me on how I go about getting my newborn son a Thai passport. Or know of any other groups. He was born in Thailand and has a Thai birth certificate, but don't know where to go from here.
