In order to have a visa O (90 days for people older than 50 years old) I saw it is requested to prove to have 24000 € in a bank account during the 3 previous months. Could it be any bank account like a savings account like for example life insurance account ?

Thanks in advance for your feedback
Answer summary
The applicant for the Non-O visa in Thailand must prove financial stability by showing 800,000 THB (or equivalent in foreign currency) in a bank account for at least three months. Although the original question is about whether any bank account will suffice, answers indicate that a savings account is acceptable as long as the funds are readily accessible. Additionally, there are alternative methods for proving financial stability, including showing a minimum monthly income. It is advised to contact the Thai Embassy for specific requirements related to the applicant's country.

You need 800,000baht in a Thai bank for two months before applying for the extension in country. You don't need that sum in your own country's bank. You can but an income equivalent of 800,000 baht per year divided by twelve ( monthly income whatever that is in Euros)shown for the 3 months up to the application is sufficient

As people have mentioned on here you can use both methods to apply for your Non O Visa in your home country.

Be mindful once you get to Thailand and open a Thai bank account immigration won't allow you to use the
*****
Thai baht per month as evidence when you apply for your first 12 month extension.

They want the 800'000 Thai baht seasoned in your Thai account for the two months.

If you don't have that type of money you can use an agent once in the country to open an account and deposit the 800'000 in for you but it will cost you $$$.

Once you get your first 12 month extension then you can use the
*****
Thai baht per month method but it's best to check with your local immigration office to make sure!

Thanks at this stage I do not expect to extend more than 3 months. I just think this is a most convenient way to have a 3 months visa rather than 1st ask tourist visa in France for 2 months and then ask in Thailand a one month extension

Doc Trevor YOU ARE IGNORING SOMETHING . . . . . . .the OP obviously is a French citizen. The French embassy in Bangkok is still issuing an income affidavit, which he can use for the 12-months extension of stay, if his monthly income/pension is more than 65,000 THB equivalent

Nongnuch Kamdee He is talking about getting the non O visa which he can use the 3 months of statements for his 2900 pension income or the 800'000 method that's not an issue.

The issue is once he is in Thailand he can't use the
*****
thai baht per month method he requires to have 800'000 baht sitting in a Thai bank account for the two months to season before he can apply for the 12 month extension.

Every expat I have chatted to says this too.

As I mentioned if doesn't have the 800'000 to put into a bank account to season he will need to go to an agent to facilitate this on his behalf but will cost him.

Once he gets his first extension then yes he can use the
*****
thai baht per month no issues there.

I'm just pointing out that the
*****
Thai baht can be used to get the non O visa in his home country but then needs to show the 800'000 Thai baht sitting in a Thai bank account for the two months once in Thailand.

This is the bit that catches a lot of people out so I'm just advising him if he doesn't have the 800'000 he needs to get a visa agent to help out to satisfy the first requirement to get his 12 month extension.

you are wrong, HE CAN!

HE IS FRENCH and HIS EMBASSY IS ISSUING THE INCOME AFFIDAVIT

what the heck do you not understand?

If the embassy that serves his nationality in Bangkok still issues income certificates and he has sufficient income to obtain the certificate he can use that to get a 12 month extension without having a single Baht in a Thai bank

they don't accept monthly transfers as you need 12 months of them. Income certificate is a different matter

To apply for the initial 90 day Non-Imm-O visa OUTISDE of Thailand you can show either THREE MONTHS (that's NEW !) of your bank account statements 800,000 THB (or equivalent in your country currency) or a monthly income of a minimum of 65,000 THB or equivalent, per month, by showing a THREE months account statement plus documentation of the source of the income

Nongnuch Kamdee Well I already had to show THREE months of my bank account when I applied 4 years ago in my home country
Nongnuch ********

Sue Heimchen the Thai Embassy in Paris (which the OP is using) just recently switched to the three months proof. Along with a few other Thais embassies, that of Vienna, Austria, for example. Before you just had to show an end balance of a minimum of 800,000 THB equivalent

I don't really understand Insurance account,

Easiest way to look at it is they want it liquid,

Remembering if you're actually settling down here, You'll need open a bank account to extend, so you're gonna need to deposit those baht. It's quite a fine time line

The question is to show you have
*****
€ (that is requested) in a bank account during ( in France where I ´m living) : is any type of bank account valid? I indeed have this amount but on savings account not on chequing account

Henri Talaron for the application to the initial Non-O Visa in France through the e-visa online system, the deposit must be in a savings account or another account type where the money is instantly accessible. You need to upload three months of bank account statements showing you have a minimum of 800,000 THB equivalent in Euros, but it doesn't say anywhere that this amount must have been held in your account for fully three months. This question you should communicate with the Royal Thai Embassy Paris by email

If you are not planning longer that 3 months why do you need such a complicated and expensive way to stay?

Just get a 6month validity TR60 Evisa online before coming here and even the last entry on the last day of visa validity date gets you two months stay that can be extended for another months so there’s 3 months there without the fear of being turned away at the Airport because someone doesn’t like the look of you.

This really answer my question. At that stage I ‘m not planning to stay longer than 3 months

To apply for the initial 90 day Non-O visa outside of Thailand you can show either 800k baht (or equivalent) ora monthly income of a minimum of 65k baht per month for 3 months. If you then plan to apply for a 12 month extension of stay inside Thailand you will either need 800k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months before applying or an income certificate from your embassy in Thailand, but many embassies no longer provide such a certificate

do you have to be in Thailand to apply for the non-O?

Cause in my reading, and parentheses it says (converted in country )

Which I read to mean, you have to be standing in Thailand to apply for this, is this correct?
Henrik ****

Robert Stephenson, no, you can get a 90-Day single entry Non-O outside Thailand or a 90-Day zero entry Non-O inside Thailand.

Thanks for your feed back

At that stage I will stay 89 days but I thing it is more convenient to ask for (90 days) non O visa instead to ask for tourist visa (60 days) and then ask 30 days extension
Henrik ****
Henrik ****
Henri Talaron, if you dont have 800k and your Embassy doesnt issue an affidavit, then ask ChatGPT how to do...
