For the DTV must the 500k THB/equivalent be in a proper savings account or can it be in my USD/GBP etc account for the 3 months? Anyone had success with just keeping the money in their account as normal for 3 months? Please lmk 🙏
Answer summary
The 500k THB or its equivalent for a Thai DTV visa can generally be held in a foreign bank account. However, it is important that the funds are in an account that is instantly accessible. Applicants have successfully used their home country's bank accounts without issue, as long as they can provide bank statements showing the account balance. Some users mentioned having success with different types of accounts, including brokerage accounts, though this could vary depending on the embassy's requirements. It is advisable to have the money in an account that allows for immediate access, rather than a fixed savings account.

if u do in Hanoi no need deposit all the money for 3 months. I put in only 1 weeks before submitting but they still requested bank account transactions for last 3 months.
Some people have used brokerage accounts but some have also been refused using them. Technically it should be in a cash account you can spend freely, so savings or checking account.
But your embassy will decide what they want to see and ask for that.
Yes, it can be in your account in your home country. As DTV requires you to apply in your home country, it would be most obvious to have the money on your account in your home country in your native currency.
SteadyFlamingo9569, I dont understand your question. You must get a Bank Statement from your bank stating that you have 500k THB or equivalent on an open account for immediate drawing.
Barney Ontour, why do you want to transfer the 500k into Thailand? That is a very different question. Taxation is about if the money has been taxed already and if there is a double taxation agreement with that country?
