If a work permit visa expires without prolongation, can the thai embassy provide a tourist visa while in Thailand currently?

If yes what is the max duration of stay allowed?

Hi. How easy is it to acquire an extension on a Non-O? Mine expired several weeks back, I managed to get the usual two month extension but that expires on the 25th of this month. I heard now that Immigration are giving further extensions of one or two months after signing an affadivit, related to Covid? I need to sort a flight to the UK but would much rather stay here, but worried about spending a day at the Immigration office, for them to refuse me. So I'm basically asking how strict are they on additional Covid extensions, or are they pretty lenient? Thanks.

Okay, I don't know how new this information is, as I've been regularly checking the American Embassy page for how I could get another letter so that I could extend my visa, but from what was posted today, if I'm reading this message correctly, you can no longer get letters from the American embassy, but can get a 60 day visa directly from immigration (for a fee that they haven't specified on the website). Here is the info I screenshot from the U.S. Embassy in Thailand dated today:

I see the Sept 26 extension...but

What are the new teachers supposed to do to get their NonB? We can’t let them do border runs because they would have to do quarantine.

Great knowledge is appreciated.
