Well thank God I was able to get my covid-19 extension today, with no delay. Although that Chiang Rai immigration officer said after this there is no more covid-19 extensions.:-( but who knows I've been told this before and it changed so it's possible to change again. All we can do is wait and see. Just thought I'd give you an update.

Got an extension last week in CR. It was not clear, but I gather they are not sure and will hear more after March.

The STV is until September 30. So I wish they will keep extensions going until at least Sept 30.

Benjamin Hays when you say people are getting verbally rejected, then I would question why? I have not heard of this, and I am on a covid extension and they didn't reject my extension last week. It was easy, and told to come back May.

When I was verbally rejected, I questioned it. They said that it's a temporary stamp, and that I should go home or find another extension of stay. Which is a good point

I have also in Chiang Rai experience the immigration officer telling me to go back to America. No joke! So yes they do from time to time do this the reason is unknown. Maybe some officers are having a bad day the most of the time when I go back I always seem to find a nice one.

It happens in Bangkok too. I think they are signaling people that time is approaching (with no clear date) that we will start seeing actual rejections or discontinuation of the covid extension. One or the other will happen, and this verbal scolding is to make all of us start to at least begin to think about what our exit strategy is for that eventuality.

good point, but I don't have an exit strategy because I plan to stay. Legally. My next step is getting marriage visa. I just needed the extension because my passport was about to expire at the end of this year and didn't want to have any troubles with giving the marriage visa. So now I have plenty of time to get my new passport and everything done. Wish you all well on your endeavors.

I am surprised people are getting verbally rejected unless they upset the wrong people with bad attitude.

From what I have heard the government don't want foreigners to leave unless dodge or painful. Yes STV is different, but they want foreigners to come and/or stay.

>but they want foreigners to come and/or stay

How do you know that? Where I live, they are indifferent to foreigners

it seems like most immigration officers are like that.

What does the STV have to do with the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19?

Also, the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 is an optional extension, and people are getting (verbally) rejected

i will go tomorrow. and will update here.

oh mine base on marriage, also my passport expires in dec. So will renew and then get marriage visa.

My opinion... they will extend it again.

Vaccine delayed.. numbers not great worldwide... no border run options.

Nothing has changed since last extension.

0nly question is why wait till last possible minute to make announcement either way?

If they really expect you to leave March 30

like most governments all of them are slow to make decisions or pass laws. Thailand just happens to be a little bit more slower sometimes LOL. This has been my experience from living here for quite some time for over 7 years now. On and off.

was the last amnesty expiration date?
Bobby ********
Billy Billy. You're way behind the times!! Amnesty finished October 31st last year!! 🤣🤣

Currently the last date that you may apply is March 30th. This may change, but at this point in time is just speculation. Wait for an announcement on or around March 30th.

Benjamin ******
The COVID-19 extension is an optional extension and the immigration officer does not have to issue the extension of stay.
