TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around new immigration rules in Thailand, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Users express concerns that these rules may not be uniformly applied across the country, referencing specific provinces. The new regulations have raised issues regarding social distancing at immigration offices, suggesting a contradiction between curfews and the congregation of large groups for visa processing. There is widespread disappointment in Thailand's handling of visa extensions and foreign nationals amidst the pandemic, with some considering relocation to more accommodating countries in Southeast Asia. The effectiveness of the Thai immigration process and concerns over health risks due to overcrowding are hot topics among the commenters.

That's Trat; which as I understand is having significant issues with Foreigners flocking to Trat. This maybe their attempt to discourage people from going to Trat and less to do with Thailand.

Also - who is to say that 1 foreigner isn't a dick.
Kd *********
Basically, they want foreigners back home ASAP. Easy to understand. But not fair. And those foreigners will never forget this including us witnessing this.

then they should assist the gvts that attempt to repatriate their people, not ban flights at the same time, or put islands on lockdown (ie Phuket) making it impossible to leave...

If the group in that photo isn't dead then restart businesses now.

Just vote with your feet and don't come back when they need the tourism....its all about squeezing money out of their golden goose....well the goose is cooked for good now.....see how they do after loosing 15-20% of gdp from tourism for good!

Wtf? Wow.
Rogerio ******
So this is for _some_ immigration offices? What about CW?
Martin *********
What happened to the automatic renewal.
Steven ***************
And automatic renewal meant no need at all to even go to immigration.
Steven ***************
You're confusing yourself. No one needs one for a first extension. Its for extra extensions.
Martin *********
UK embassy telling me I don't need it .

So close all beaches, jail people for getting together but force HUNDREDS of foreigners to be in way too close quarters all for a stamp.

Not only does it not make sense it’s dangerous and inhumane. At this point they are putting peoples lives at risk. So sad & I pray that something will change
Freddie **********
And now that they want landlords to come too, it's not just farangs lives anymore..its their own people they're putting at risk...that and doubling the chances by doubling the crowd...

Beyond absurd is an understatement...
James **************
@Sei ****
exactly i think we should just all refuse to go.
Jon ********
The wise thing here would be to waiver all visa extensions until May or June to avoid the very thing they're trying to enforce....social distancing.

Strange double standard lack of thought gone into this.

Reason says, "Left hand, meet Right hand". Left hand says, "fuck you, I want the money".

What a bunch of incompetent fukwits.

Don’t lump The people at the offices with the entire process.

I already make up my mind. Went all this is behind us im relocating. Many SEA countries have used common sense and treated foreigners like human being during this pandemic. On top of that, the visa situation in Thailand was already the worse in SEA. Im thinking beach front in the Philippines.
George ****
How can I get in Philippines anyway? Seems like they closed the borders already

@Maxim **********
Regardless of increasing and meaningless hoops the TH immigration set up for foreigners, you obviously have no clue what to live in PH - everything of slightly reminiscent comforts will cost multiple of TH, but quality of environment- except protected prime beaches, where you will not reside anyway, is sooo low vs. TH
Nathan **********
While i agree about thailand, i think you should rethink current and long term prospects in the Phillippines. I definitely dont see it being any better.
Maxim ***********
He solved the visa situation very quickly. Hes proactive. And im talking about when all this is being us, obv not atm.

@Maxim **********
just be careful. There are planning to shut the people who are on the streets despite the quarantine. They don't ask if you local or foreigner
Christophe **********
Gee a curfew to stop five people from hanging out together but more paper to force hundreds of foreigners to be next to each other for ten hours at immigration. anyone there pass a dynamic flow network course?
James **************
Good word Sir, you are certainly no sesquipideliac.

@Christophe *********
honestly blows my mind. The logic is nonexistent.
Jesse *****
They're a bunch of ultracrepidarians

This is not country-wide. This may apply in specific provinces, but not all. I’d definitely caveat this post with that so we don’t inadvertently panic everyone.
Steven ***************
Article actually states that anyway if you read it all. Relates to Trat Imm office only.
