TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is uncertain about what to do with their expiring tourist visa, which is set to expire on April 22. They have a letter from the British embassy related to COVID-19 but are confused about when to act due to the potential changes in immigration rules as April 30 approaches. Community comments suggest that the embassy will no longer issue these letters after a certain date, emphasizing the importance of obtaining a standard extension before the current visa expires.
It appears the OP can not get an extension of stay based on the COVID-19 virus, and can only get the automatic extension. My advice is to catch the next flight home, or to wait until late April to see what changes may occur.
I went to Samut Prakan office today to do a Covid 19 extension, I was handed this letter & told to come back after the 30th. So couldn't do an extension anyway.
and that's why with 70+ immigration offices we say check with your specific office to see what they are doing. MANY offices were still selling normal 30 day extensions AND 30 day covid extensions yesterday even though you could get until the 30th for free by doing nothing..
. The British Embassy have made a point of telling people no more letters, so I would grab the maximum you can, that you KNOW you can get, rather than chancing it happening on April 30
