With the help of you guys and others I got home to Chiang Mai on a Tourist visa and will marry my Thai wife before the visa runs out. Then I'll get a marriage visa.
It looks like working.
The freedom to marry paper is on it's way to me from the Australian embassy. I will get it translated and certified.
But, there is in some websites mention that this translated paper needs to be further certified in Bangkok - "have the same translated to Thai and certified at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before heading to the local district office for the marriage registration.'
Question - can I get this 'translated freedom to marry paper' certified in Chiang Mai?
