Question for German passport holders: what to enter for “place of issue”?

I’m filling out the form that asks for the *“place of issue”* of my passport.

In a German passport, there doesn’t seem to be a clear place listed.

What is the correct thing to enter here?

* the issuing authority (e.g. Bürgeramt XY)?

* simply Germany?

* or an actual city like Berlin / Munich?

What did you put, or what is usually expected?

Thanks in advance!

Hey, quick question regarding the DTV Digital Nomad Visa application in Sri Lanka.

I’ll be in the country for one month on vacation before moving on to Thailand. (The plan so far)

All documents are prepared - does anyone have experience with the DTV process in Sri Lanka as a German passport holder or in general?

Hi,

I got DTV for about 1 year now, had to get a provisional passport a month ago in order to proceed my travel plans. Coming back with my provisional passport soon to Thailand, will they come up and ask some "weird" questions, or showing them my old 32-page-passport including DTV visa will be fine and I will get easily back?

(German passport if that matters. Anyone made experiences with provisional passports+DTV?

Approved. Soft skills. Muay Thai. Cambodia. German Passport.

Applied: Friday August 8th

Approved: Wednesday evening August 27th

I've been living in Thailand since 2013. Mostly on Marriage Visa and extensions, but the past 2 years a mix between border runs ( 60 day arrival stamps ) and 1 year ED-Visa.

I chose Muay Thai Fever for documents. They did advice to go to basically any country other than Cambodia, because they are known to be difficult. But, I was a bit stubborn. I've been wanting to visit Cambodia / Angkor Wat for years already and decided to stay in Siem Reap for the time. If push comes to shove, I'd just try again in Vietnam.

I also used Issa Compass to handle all the paperwork and submit the documents. Very reasonable price + money back guarantee if I get declined. No brainer for me.

I provided Issa Compass with all documentation and they submitted everything Friday August 8th. I should mention, I already have 2 Bank accounts in Thailand. Both were way under 500k. I topped "sleeper" account up to 500k in May of this year...so about 3 months prior to applying. I gave Issa 6 months worth of statements with almost no transactions except the 500k deposit in May.

The following week I was asked if I can provide a different bank statement "to make my case stronger". I provided my everyday account statement, also 6 months...but balance always around 20k. ( I hold most my assets in crypto and convert to THB as needed ).

They agreed to use that bank account as well, eventhough it was way below 500k.

A few days passed, and I was asked when I opened those accounts and which Visa. ( I was surprised and scared by those questions ). I provided pictures of my Visas for ~8 years ago ( mind you, I have a new passport since then as well ).

Then another few days later, they wanted some other document from Muay Thai Fever gym. They explained usually its not needed ( Cambodia apparently is the only embassy that asks for this one specific document ). I forwarded the information to my Agent Issa Compass. They understood the explanation.

Another ~2 weeks passed and I got the Approved! Email.

Without the Visa agent / Issa Compass I would have failed surely. I assume some?all? Visa agents have a direct line of communication with the embassy to handle missing paperwork. Whereas a normal applicant would possibly just get a rejection with or without explanation.

DTV Success - Hanoi - 5 Business days - German passport holder

I flew to Hanoi on 22 April after staying in Thailand for 90 days (extended tourist visa).

1. Applied for DTV (Freelancer / Digital Nomad) on 23 April at 1:12 am on the official Thai website.

2. Status changed to “Pending Approval” on 24 April.

3. No additional docs requested.

4. Received visa on 29 April at 6:20 pm.

5. Entered Thailand through DKM airport on 1 May. Neither AirAsia employees at Hanoi airport nor the DMK immigration officer asked me anything. The imm. officer only asked if I filled out the TDAC, and when I said “yes”, he went ahead and gave me my 6 months visa after I showed him my printed out DTV.

Docs submitted (I used [members only] to merge my PDFs):

1. Docs indicating current location:

1.1 Airbnb confirmation Hanoi (initially booked 4 nights & extended my stay later on)

1.2 Hotel booking Bangkok for 1 month (for when I go back to Thailand)

1.3 Boarding Passes

1.4 Passport exit stamp Thailand

1.5 Passport entry stamp Vietnam

1.6 Google Maps screenshot indicating my location in Hanoi

1.7 Cute little selfie of myself in front of my Airbnb showing the street name and house number

2. Employment contracts

2.1 Contract no. 1

2.2 Contract no. 2

2.3 Cover letter explaining what I do (see attached screenshot)

2.4 2 Screenshots showing websites I have translated

2.5 3 Screenshots of my Malt, UpWork and LinkedIn profile

3. Financial evidence

3.1 Screenshot of my German bank account indicating a sufficient amount on 22nd of April (in German, not translated to English)

3.2 Official bank statement of my German bank indicating a sufficient on my savings account on 4th of April (in German, not translated to English)

3.3 6 months of payslips of my other German bank account where I receive payments from my clients. I marked all client payments green (in German, not translated to English)

Additional notes:

- Print out your Thai DTV visa and show it to the Thai immigration officer.

- As you can see in the attached cover letter, I explained every document using red letters in the left corner so the embassy employees know straight away what each page is about.

- The authority in my German passport says "Botschaft Bangkok" — this is exactly what I typed into the field “Issuing Authority”, which has worked for me and another German passport holder who has the same authority in his passport and who also applied for the Freelancer DTV.

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to apply for the DTV in Germany but I’m no longer registered there. I’ve been living in Thailand with an ED visa. What can I provide as proof of residence in this case?

DTV Visa Success - Germany, Munich:

The process took about 9 days, including weekends and a public holiday. I applied for a new passport / express 1 day before so i uploaded a "pre-passport" document, but it was rejected twice. After explaining to the embassy, I later uploaded my actual passport, and the visa was issued the next day.

Question: My passport has 10 digits (bottom left) but 9 digits (top right). The german passport office said this is normal. Could this cause issues at border control?

Good luck to everyone!
