Hey looking for recommendations for a decent Accountant that has experience with Digital Nomads.

I’m a UK registered sole trader working 100% online, but also looking to register my business in another country with better tax rates/benefits if anybody has any knowledge on the matter. Thanks!

Hey everyone,

Sorry this is a longer post — I’d really appreciate any insight or advice ❤️

I recently applied for the Thai Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) from Germany (my passport country), and unfortunately, my application was just rejected. I’m still trying to understand what exactly went wrong.

Here’s what I submitted:

* Proof of funds (over 500,000 THB)

* Invoices from freelance clients over the past 12 months

* My personal Spanish tax return (I was living in Spain until recently)

* Proof of current location in Germany (short-term rental contract)

* A company tax return from a Spanish business I closed in March 2025

I’m currently not registered anywhere, as I’ve been full-time nomadic since March — and was just temporarily in Germany when I applied.

A few days after submitting, they asked me to:

* Provide proof of registration in Germany (which I don’t have - I explained it to them and it seemed ok - so I think)

* Legalize all documents related to any foreign company through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thai embassy in the issuing country (in my case, Spain)

Since my company was already closed and I wasn’t in Spain anymore, I explained that and asked them to disregard the company tax documents and instead focus only on my personal Spanish tax return.

Still, my visa was rejected — no reason given.

What’s confusing is that a friend of mine (Spanish citizen) applied from Vietnam, had no company, and got approved in just two days — no extra documents requested.

So I’m left wondering:

* Has anyone here successfully applied from a country that’s not their own passport country (like Vietnam)?

* Do they always require legalised foreign tax documents? (If so, what exactly? Just the tax return? Company registration too?)

* Would submitting only my personal tax return be enough?

* I recently opened a U.S. LLC to handle invoicing — will this create the same legalization problem if I use it in a new application?

* Do they expect you to be officially registered somewhere? Or is that flexible for nomads?

I really put a lot of time and effort into this application — so I’m feeling discouraged. I had hoped to spend 6–7 months a year in Thailand, and this rejection feels like a setback I didn’t expect.

If anyone here has been through something similar or knows how to navigate this better, I’d be so grateful for your advice. 🙏

Thanks so much in advance.

Hi everyone, my name is Mirko. I'm a Content Creator and I make content about Thailand. I'd like to know if the DTV Visa is also available for content creators like me. I'm not a freelancer, but I've been creating content for the past 10 months to promote Thai tourism to the Italian audience.

What are the requirements to obtain it? Thank you

Hey all, I’m planning of snowbirding every winter (November to May) in Thailand on a yearly basis (given that I like the first year, which I’m sure I will but you never know!)

I’m Canadian living in Canada right now but am looking for advice on DTV, I have the $15k for 3+ months proof requirement. Is this the biggest hurdle I am to expect with trying to apply or is there more? I can always come as a tourist and border hop this year if I face issues, wondering what other digital nomads are doing.

Lastly, my girlfriend is not a remote freelancer like me, but she does have the 15k evidence in her account. How do you guys typically deal with partners for these types of plans?

I don’t want any trouble with Thailand and border hopping is just as a temporary resort while I get things in order for the long run, but I do prefer options that have 0 risk.

Thanks in advance!

Hi! I’m a digital nomad from Europe currently in Colombia. I will leave soon for Mexico, where I plan to stay a few months. Then I’d like to visit Asia and I’d like to apply for the dtv visa. Do you think it’s better to apply meanwhile I’m in Mexico City, where I see there’s a Thai embassy, or maybe it’s better to fly directly to an Asian country like Vietnam or Philippines, and apply and wait there? I think I meet all the requirements but I also see people getting denied with no reason and I don’t want to risk to fly to Asia and then fail the application. On the other side I don’t know how Mexico manage visas (bureaucracy is a mess). Has anyone applied in Mexico City? What would you suggest? I appreciate any advise. Thanks

As titled. The officer first asked what did i do here and I mentioned being a digital nomad under DTV Visa. She asked for proof of work which I showed her my latest invoices with my clients. She was only happy when the invoices show the billing in the previous months so I reckon a contract would have worked better.

I then asked her if it was a new regulation to provide the documents before entry, she said no and mentioned it’d be better for me to have them since DTV is a long term visa.

Hey there everyone! 🙋 ♂️

I am currently looking for a German employer who allows to work remotely from Thailand permanently or at least for a longer period of time. Maybe there are some people here with experience or concrete tips?

So far, in my research, I have only found companies that offer remote work, but restrict that to Germany or maximum the EU. Especially in terms of tax and legal aspects, this seems to be an exclusion criteria for many companies.

Therefore, my question to you: Do you know employers in Germany (or maybe even specific industries or forms of companies) that allow work from Thailand, whether it is official or at least unofficially with tolerance?

I am happy for any feedback, experience or exchange. Thank you in advance! 🙏😊

Hi everyone! 🙋 ♂️

I’m currently looking for a German employer who allows long-term or even permanent remote work from Thailand. I was wondering if anyone here has experience with this or knows of companies that are open to it?

So far, I’ve mostly come across employers that offer remote work but only within Germany or, at best, within the EU. It seems that legal and tax-related concerns make many companies hesitant to allow remote work from outside the EU.

That’s why I’d love to hear from anyone who knows of German companies or even specific industries or job types where working remotely from Thailand is officially permitted (or at least tolerated in practice).

Any tips, insights, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance! 🙏😊

Hallo zusammen! 🙋‍♂️

With this new bank approach to close accounts unless you have long term visa, own property or are married, does the DTV visa suffice to keep the bank account or is this still deemed a touristic visa

I came to extend my DTV visa to another 180 days (ko samui). Because of the high season and because i have a dog (super hard to find accommodation with a dog), i moved a lot and only recently found a more permanent home. Anyway, apparently, one of the ridiculous requirements for extending, is that you need to be 3 months at the same home when you are applying... Considering this visa was designed for digital NOMADS, this is an incredibly stupid rule. I have all requirements for the extension beside that stupid thing, I'm in samui so the flight is relatively long and expensive, I would prefer to save the time, energy and money that will be spent on it without any reason whatsoever, but whatever. Heads up to all nomads on dtv out there that move a lot.
