I recently attended a webinar that interviewed a senior immigration official, the discussion being around the changes to the tax residency rules and how this may be linked to Visa renewals. This immig official stated unequivocally that Retirement O visa renewals based on the 65k a month will be required to provide evidence that this money (remitted from overseas) has been declared for tax (or exemption due to DTA) in other words provide a tax return from Thai Tax office - they further stated that the 800k method is exempt - which is illogical if the 800k is remitted after Jan 1st this year. Not looking for opinions , anyone know what the facts are please share with the group - simply wishing this away especially for the 65k a month folks may no longer be an option. I am in the process of moving from the 800k to 65k a month in Oct so if not before, I will find out then I guess.

My retirement O visa expires on April 29, 2024. I will be traveling overseas during March 1st thru end of May of 2024 right in the midst of my original renewal period. Is it possible to renew it earlier than 30 days. What other options do I have. Or I have to start the whole O visa process again on my return. Thanks.

Good morning, I am planning to apply for retirement O visa.I understand the process but would like to know once I apply and get the 3 months extension if I need to stay in the country for those 3 months before applying for the one year extension.

Or if I leave the country would I need to reapply for those 3 months again?

Thanks

Hello all,

im arriving in bangkok on June 8th which is a friday on a visa exempt 30 days, on monday the 11th im appling for my retirement O visa, i have all and i mean all but my concern is the time difference is it 14 working days or 21 days until the visa is granted, OR should i go for a extention for 30 days THEN in that extention time apply for the o visa, its a time frame time that worries me, any idea,s or as anyone gone through this, if it was the old 45 days no problem, however 30 days another story, TYA.

Hi.. I’m now holding Retirement OA visa which will expire end of this year.

I intend to apply for Retirement O visa ( no insurance needed) … I will be flying back to HOng Kong and these are the visas available from Thai embassy in hk for application

I hold a Singapore passport.. and a PR of HOng Kong. I obtained my OA visa from HOng Kong.

I have to return to HK in Nov and I’m just simply asking which visa I should get in order to apply for Retirement O visa in thailand… That’s all !

Tourist , Visa Exemption or Special Tourist visa.

can I enter with visa exemption… which visa should I apply so I can apply for retirement O visa in Chiang Mai immigration? Thank you

Why do you decline my post ?! I do not know which visa to apply so that I can apply for Retirement O in thailand .. Visa exemption, Tourist, Special Tourist Visa ?!

Hello, I am planning on flying to Bangkok from the USA in January and I am hoping someone could kindly steer me in the right direction. After being on a 60-day Tourist Visa and then a 30 day extension can I then fly back to the USA for 30-60 day period; and then return to Thailand on a visa exempt status in order to apply for a Retirement O Visa rather than apply for a OA Visa in the USA.? Please note I have to be in the USA in April/May. Thank you for any suggestions.
