I went to Bali on Nov 3rd, had some business there. Applied for my DTV. So this was before all the new rules. On Nov 13 they asked for all pages of my passport and proof of income. I work for myself so I sent my PayPal account and sent a letter stating that my bank account holds a balance of $180K Canadian which is over 4 million Thai baht not including other investments. I was approved yesterday Nov 18 got the email around 1pm. I then booked my flight to Thailand for today. I had the email printed out everything done. I got pulled over and questioned, they ask me what information I provided Jakarta to get my approval, I had to show my website, I showed my bank account balance, I showed my water bill because I rent a condo. Eventually for stamped for 6 months. So just because you have a DTV doesn’t mean you won't get questioned. Also to be clear, I have never done a visa run. I came to Thailand used the 60 days tourist, 1 extension for 30 days then went to Bali. It just aligned with my work. Within those 3 months here I leased a condo knowing I will apply for the DTV. Oh they also wanted to know how much I make monthly, it's random, some months can be 5000 some months nothing so I said that.

Hi everyone! I have read through alot of the posts and I am a bit unclear about something. On the thaievisa website it recommended an embassy to apply at. My question is after submitted the online app on website, am I to then make and appointment at the recommended embassy or can I just show up? Also, I am doing Muay Thai, so I should be bringing all the relative documents from the gym to that in person visit? And as far as the 500,000 thaibaht proof of income, do they require a stamped and signed bank statement?

I have a US passport and I live in Mexico so naturally I will be going to the embassy in Mexico City. Anybody have experience with that embassy?

Thanks in advance!

I built a house on my wife's property 2 1/2 years ago. We winter there 5 months and 7 months in the U.S. According to the Royal Thai Consulate I can apply for a yearly renewal retirement visa as follows: retirement income plus money in bank for 60 days equals 800,000 bht. I used to go to Laos to get re stamped but almost didn't get back last time. Not doing the border bounce.

I failed to maintain my balance above 800k, and my retirement visa expires on April 4. With my balance now below 400k, do I have to start the visa application process anew?

American,,, Entered the Kingdom on a 90 day Tourist Visa from the Thai Consultant in Miami, Florida. Applied and received a 30 day extension at Immigration Phuket City. Yesterday applied with all required paper work at Thai Consultant, Penang. Today received passport back with Non-IMM Single Entry. Only comment was, next time have your Embassy stamp proof of income paper. (Had letter from Social Security Administration). My experience!

In and out of Burirum immigration in 35 mins with a year's extension to my retirement visa

A reentry stamp and my 90 day. Yesterday downloaded a TM 7 form and handed it in with all my documents

He put the form to on side and gave me another form to fill in plus 2 more forms printed off with my photo on both

Then another officer has started looking at my proof of income letter ,he's worked my income at 42 baht to the pound and it just scraped in

When I explained its 43,5 today not in this office it's 42

He then asked me where's your proof that they worked my proof of income out from. Fortunately I had the letter from the consolent with my bank statements from my 2 British accounts

I showed him every under lined was money in and all the unmarked amounts where either paid in Thai shops or Thai ATM machines

He went on to tell me that this was no good

I pointed at the boss and told him it was good enough for him last year and good enough for Kap choeng/churn the year before

He then said he'd let it go this year but next year he wants all my income put into a Thai bank

Sorry so long winded what good is a proof of income letter if he wants to see my pensions transferred to a Thai bank account before spending
