TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among the commenters is that cryptocurrency cannot be used as proof of the required 500,000 THB in a bank account for the DTV visa in Thailand. While some suggest alternative methods such as taking a loan against crypto assets, most emphasize that the funds need to be in liquid cash, held directly in a personal bank account to avoid issues with the immigration process.

They wont accept it as liquid cash.

Must be directly in bank account.

They say crypto and brokerage accounts are too vulnerable.

Id suggest using crypto to buy gold as thats accepted and is flying unlike crypto. Then exchange your gold back to crypto as a certain 'few' are set to bull big in 6-9 months

Better off invest that cash , do border runs

makes me nervous

I’ll have spent 244 days here since mid October last year in Thailand

I know people rinse them but all it takes it’s for an immigration officer to have had a bad day and refuse entry

Can’t think of anything worse lol

I’ve got an agent that guarantees entry but then when applying for a real visa, they may not like the history in my passport and potentially refuse visa then

Might be overthinking/worrying too much

Anonymous participant plenty of people here successfully received a dtv with a history of border runs. $15k is way too much to keep in a passive account for 3 months and not invest in a bull market this year

agreed

I just feel they’re tightening up on them

I got pulled at immigration this time entering and it was NOT a nice feeling

I think it was because when I filled in the online arrivals card, I didn’t have an outbound flight filled in

I had to book one when departing the UK or they weren’t going to let me fly then only remembered when in the queue at Swampy

I showed my old QR code for arrivals card at immigration and they must have seen I didn’t have an outbound flight on the non edited card

Long story short, things like that fill me with anxiety lol

I’ll probably do one border run and have a think from there and consider an ED I think

Anonymous participant let me know which agency you are using to enter. I do land border runs . Need an airport link for the near future

Anonymous participant A crypto loan. any of the majors, Bitcoin, Solana, Ethereum etc. you can get a permissionless cash loan against it.

@Ryan *******
u still need to pay back at the price of that coin by the time. The same as cash it out

Anonymous participant 934 Not true.

1. Borrow 16,000 USD stablecoin against BTC, ETH, SOL on Kamino or Aaave.

2. Cash out stable coin to bank, season the money for visa

3. After visa approved, repay
*****
USD stablecoin loan + 6-10% annual interest.

The loan is denominated in USD, the collateral moving in price doesn't affect the loan amount. Only thing to be aware of is the interest rate and provide enough collateral to not get liquidated on a down move.

@Ryan *******
yes exactly what I was referring to. Get a loan based on your own collateral via crypto

No, it has to be readyli available at all times, in f.ex. if you pay for hospital before you get treatment.

Liquid only

Isn’t dogecoin money?

Yes yes of course and while you’re at it, show you’re Pokémon card collection and some Fortnite skin to prove you’re 500k. Wtf

Only personal bank account. No brokerage account, no crypto.
Johan **************
Nope. Only directly accessible bank accounts are allowed.

Last year some people did, but it's in the conditions it must be liquid cash in a bank account & not brokerage, investment accounts ect.

@Aaron ****
not ideal lol
Aaron *****
Anonymous participant yeah, I could see that for crypto folks, but if you can’t liquidate it then you can see why its an issue for visa purposes.
Ben ********
Highly unlikely. It's value varies, so if it completely tanked, it could theoretically go under 500k etc
Itay *******
@Ben *******
you could use a fiat currency which I assume would be acceptable..

change into USDT temporarily you mean?
Itay *******
Anonymous participant i guess if you use a crypto wallet as your fund it would be ideal to present usdt, but then again not sure how they view it so I would further investigate the topic.
Ryan ********
I believe I saw somewhere it has to be liquid cash like in a bank account. I can't remember where

Anonymous participant he's Correct ✅ Crypto not accepted.

Anonymous participant the recommendation I give is to go with the safest option in the eyes of the government. Crypto can come and go, but cash in a savings account is safe. Etc.
