Should I get a 60-day SETV and a re-entry permit, or should I enter Thailand under the normal 30-day visa exemption?

I’m planning to stay in Thailand from December 1 to December 29. Then I’ll travel to Vietnam for 10 days and return to Thailand on January 7, 2027, where I plan to stay for another 30 days.

I’ve already visited Thailand twice this year for holidays.

What would you recommend?

I’m worried about being allowed to re-enter Thailand after my trip to Vietnam without SETV. Do you think I might have any problems at immigration when I return?

I'd say SETV and RP followed by an extension as long as your previous entries over the last 12 to 18 months has not been excessive using tourism entry stamps

And how much time did you spend in Thailand in the latter half of last year? In my view there's not a huge difference between entering visa exempt and entering on a tourist visa, both are designed for short term tourism so it's more about the time you've spent inside Thailand in the last 12 to 18 months
