Is the NA17 temporary residence form in Vietnam supposed to be free, or is there a cost involved?

For everyone that’s in Vietnam obtaining the temporary residence NA17 form from the police station, did you have to pay for the form or was it free? I’m so confused right now because I googled it and it said it’s free from the police station but this police officer is asking me of 1 million dong? So I’m just asking for others experiences to make sure I’m not getting scammed.

You go direct to your hotel reception and they do it for you there and then it’s free don’t pay a penny! Iv had same thing my hotel had it to me in 3 hours

If you are getting this in order to apply for the DTV visa...be careful. That may 🚫❌ not be the proof of your having a residence Visa in Vietnam.

But I read that you applied for the DTV visa before the change of rules... you should be okay 👍.

Not sure NA17 suffices as proof of PERMANENT residence. Temp, sure, but the bar - assuming DTV - is higher now.

It is free but seeking a "payment for administration purposes' is not unusual.  Try another station.
