After applying for the DTV and getting approved, is there a specific time window in which I have to enter Thailand? or is it also possible to for example enter Thailand 6 months after getting approved?

Thanks.
Answer summary
After approval of the DTV visa, there is a general consensus among users that you have up to 5 years to enter Thailand and activate your visa. Some comments suggest that there is no strict requirement like an activation period as seen in single-entry visas, therefore, one can enter at any time within that 5-year validity.

You have 5 months to use the visa and enter the country. There are no other time limits.

There’s no “activation” period for multiple entry visas such as the DTV. The visa is active from the date of issue so if you enter for the first time a year after the visa is issued the only difference is that you’ll have a year less left on the visa.

This notion comes from a number of single entry visas which are valid for 90 days from the date of issue so you have to enter within 3 months otherwise the visa expires.

UnforgettableRambutan8343 no I actually thought it was because you couldn’t apply any earlier than 3 months probably mixing it up with that 😀

Graham Seal for goodness sake I said I thought it was 3 months not that I definitely knew I wasn’t talking about single entry visa I was talking about the dtv which is multiple entry only on the London embassy site it says not to apply any earlier than 3 months before travel

No wonder people don’t want to answer questions on this site constantly getting criticised

you cannot apply for a single entry visa more that 3 months before travelling because they are valid for 90 days from the date of issue
