Is it true that when applying for DTV as a Brit you only need to have had the 500k+ THB in your account for 1 month? And also to confirm I MUST 100% apply from my home country now, not a border run etc?

et oui il durcissent les règles, il y a trop de personnes qui rentrent avec le DTV qui ne sont pas très clean. Les gens honnêtes vont en pâtir et ils font beaucoup de contrôles car beaucoup ne vont pas au cours de boxe ni au cours de cuisine ou pour apprendre le thaï , ils ont révoqué des milliers de visa DTV depuis qq mois

Does the background check requirement apply to DTV extensions of stay within the Kingdom?

a background check is not required for an extension of a DTV for people from most countries. There is a list of countries at the immigration office which do require background clearance (gotten here in thailand) to get extensions though

Keep in mind of the tens of thousands of DTV's issued very few people ever apply for the in country extension
