For the extension of stay based on retirement, using the monthly transfer method... Do the Immigration Offices care about international outgoing transactions?
The Norwegian Embassy is stopping with the affadavits confirming income from next year, and people who have been getting Non-O and extending their stays with the Affidavit as proof of income are now looking for alternatives. In particular this is about those who don't stay the entire year, but a lot of it. While there are other options, getting the extensions of stay based on their original Non-O would of course be preferable.
So I am wondering if people would be able to send the required 65k a month minimum TO Thailand, but send this amount BACK to a Norwegian account on the months where they are not staying in Thailand.
Or if this would raise some eyerbows at Immigration?
There's be 12 months of 65k going in, but some of those months would see the same amount transferred right back out.
Again, just a question out of curiosity, as trying to help find the best alternatives for the people affected by the Embassies decision.
Wondering if anyone knows if immigration in Bangkok or Hua Hin is accepting the current affidavit of income from Canadian Consulate as proof of income? TIA
Is it possible for someone to qualify for a retirement visa based on a monthly pension income of 790400 THB in lieu of an 800000 THB deposit to a Thai bank account?
I have been issued a non O-A (retirement) visa from Canada - once the documentation was submitted it took only 1 working day to get approved!
My wife (also Canadian) and I will arrive into Krabi early November.
As this is my first time arriving with this type of visa, what will I need to present to the immigration officer at the airport - I want to be sure to have everything close at hand. I assume the printed O-A visa, valid passport, Health Insurance certificate?....anything else?
Also, my wife does not qualify for her own O-A visa, so she will apply for a non O in Thailand as a trailing spouse/depentant - is the marrage certificate all thats required for the non O for her?
In addition to a posting earlier today, about switching from the 800K method to the 65K method, I wonder how this switch works for citizens of countries that still work with the affidavits.
My embassy still legalizes affidavits as proof of income. So I do not need to have monthly 65K transfers to Thailand. I only have to proof 65K income in my country.
So, I suppose that an affidavit, would be sufficient to switch from the 800K to the 65K method? Although I still would have to prove that I didn’t go under the 800K/400K limit during the past 12 months.
Or do I need 2 affidavits, one from a year earlier, and one from the moment that I want to switch? It was never clear to me if those affidavits are statements about past income (last year I earned …) or future income (to declare that your income during the next 12 months will be enough to pay for your stay in Thailand) .
Hi I used the banked money method to get my retirement visa last year and kept the balance above 400k until I renewed my visa today. I switched to the embassy letter method and received my new visa that expires jun 19 2025. Question is when can I start drawing down my 400k balance? TIA 🙏
I have it narrowed down to a retirement visa for Thailand , yes over 50 , not interested in putting 800 K in my Thai bank account , I understand you can show bank statements in my account in Canada ? It will be much appreciated for all information on the retirement visa you can give me .
Hi, I am U.S citizen, I plan to apply for Non O visa in Thailand soon, I had rental income go into U.S bank account with Zelle every month and want to use a monthly income method for Visa application. Does USA Embassy in Thailand provide affidavit of income as proof at this time?
Hello and thanks for the advice. Has anyone applied for the retirement visa using the certificate of income of not less than 65,000 baht a month? Is it true that one has to get the affidavit (income letter) from the US Embassy ONLY in the US before traveling to Thailand?
If one is depositing 800,00 baht into a Thai Bank (for retirement visa), it can be done while in Thailand without the US authenticating income?
Just trying to see which one works best for me. Thanks for advice.
We are entering on an O-A visa obtained from Canada. What are the requirements to do an extension of stay in country through the Hua Hin Immigration? I know about leaving the country and returning before the visa valid until date to get an extra year but interested in knowing about extending in Thailand
