TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers on obtaining a retirement visa (Non-OA) for Thailand, specifically for Canadians over 50. Several participants confirm that applicants can use bank statements from Canada, as well as an affidavit of income from the Canadian Embassy, to meet financial requirements instead of maintaining 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account. Regular renewal of the visa is necessary every two years, and options include the monthly income method (minimum 65,000 THB). Some users share experiences of using services to obtain visas and discuss different financial strategies to qualify.

I recently documented, on my Travel Blog, the process as it applies in the United Arab Emirates. You may find some useful tips there as the process should be similar around the world. Good Luck 🇹🇭🙏🏻

There's also an option to deposit 400K and show 400K in income. Be aware, to the best of my knowledge, that you can only take ฿50,000 out of Thailand in one tranaction.

that is if the Immigration Office will accept the split funds method as many don't

going through the Thai embassy in your home country for a "retirement visa" has it's advantages. They tend to stick to Bangkoks rules, and income statements are easier to provide.

Talk to the nearest Thai embassy

I've done 2 extensions using the monthly income method.

Email the Canadian embassy in BKK and they will send you the list of what is required.

pm me if you like. I’m formerly from Regina Sk area, moved in November and I’m in the middle of the process of my non-imm “O”.

for the application to the 90 days Non Imm O visa, bank starements of your account in Canada can be used. However for the application to the 1-year extension of stay, Thai immigration only accepts either an affidavit of income from the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok over a minimum of monthly 65,000.- THB, or 800,000.- in your Thai bank account

@Keith *******
you need to ask this question to your embassy

@Nongnuch *******
yes you can. See my posted response from Bangkok Canadian embassy.

You can transfer THB monthly into a Thai bank to qualify.
Graham ******
You need to apply for a Non-OA retirement Visa in Canada and return every 2 years to renew it

@Graham *****
Don’t get an OA with mandatory Thai insurance. Learn from my mistake. Get a NonO with optional insurance from any insurance company anywhere.
Stuart *********
@Graham *****
Doesn’t need the OA. They can use a Non O and extend using the income affidavit from the Canadian embassy.
Stuart *********
The Canadian embassy still issues the affidavit of income. You can use that if you qualify rather than funds in Thailand.

@Stuart ********
I just uploaded 2 documents that they want at CDN embassy, a visa authorization for 50.00 CAD and an affidavit of income sources to be notarized before you send it. I took that to Immigration and my 30 day exempt still had 14 days so they processed and did not stamp but told me to come back in 12 days for my stamp.
Stuart *********
@Shlomo **********
That’s quite usual that they give you an “under consideration” stamp to come back in 3-4 weeks. Often they send documents to their HQ for sign off.

I'm expecting that, Its all good. Just time and paperwork.
