TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian citizen applying for an O retirement visa in Thailand needs to obtain an affidavit confirming their income. This service is currently offered online due to COVID-19. To obtain the affidavit, you must email the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok with the required documents, including your passport, proof of income (e.g., bank statements or tax returns), and a credit card payment for the notary service fee. The embassy will then provide a letter confirming your income for your visa application.

You must do it online now (since COVID). I contacted the embassy in Bangkok a few weeks back to ask the same question. Here is their reply:

The Embassy of Canada provides a letter confirming an income for Canadian citizen applying for a retirement visa, a marriage visa, and one year visa renewal to stay in Thailand.

Due to situation of Coronavirus pandemic, the income letter service is currently available online. You will be able to apply for an income letter by e-mail.

Please note: Service may be delayed for 1-2 weeks

Please e-mail the completed affidavit to the Embassy of Canada along with the following documents;

1. a copy of your passport

2. supporting document confirms your pension or other income such as Canada Revenue Agency statement, Income tax return slip, pension letter, or 3 months of bank statement showing monthly income

3. notary service fee of CAD 50.- pay by credit card (Visa or Master) by completing the attached “Credit card authorization form”

Once receive your mail, we will issue a letter addressing to the Thai Immigration confirming your income and mail/EMS back to your address. Please provide your mailing address.

Should you have further question, please do not hesitate to contact us.

You are asking a question that you can get the answer from by contacting the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok and see what they say.

I am not sure post-covid-sh*t-show whether you are required to go in person or not. you used to have to go in person, submit the documents showing you meet the requirement and they wrote the letter for you while you waited

Contact them and ask
