Edit: My IO is in Jomtiem.

Hello, my non o visa is due for extension on 10 December 2024, under the 800k method. My plan next year is to use the 65k per month when I renew on 10 December 2025. So my question is, if I want to change method, when do I need to make the first 65k transfer please ? My plan is to commence 65k transfers in November 2024 so by the time I try for extension in December 10 2025, I will have 12/13 monthly transfers to show. Does this work? Another question is, I intend to withdraw 400k, 3 months after my 2024/5 extension, do I have to keep 400k until 2 months before December 2025 when I change methods ? Do I put the other 400k back in 2 months before, so that when I change methods in December 2025, I have 800k and 12 months receipts for the 65k method? A long post sorry, I couldn’t see this in previous posts. Thanks

In addition to a posting earlier today, about switching from the 800K method to the 65K method, I wonder how this switch works for citizens of countries that still work with the affidavits.

My embassy still legalizes affidavits as proof of income. So I do not need to have monthly 65K transfers to Thailand. I only have to proof 65K income in my country.

So, I suppose that an affidavit, would be sufficient to switch from the 800K to the 65K method? Although I still would have to prove that I didn’t go under the 800K/400K limit during the past 12 months.

Or do I need 2 affidavits, one from a year earlier, and one from the moment that I want to switch? It was never clear to me if those affidavits are statements about past income (last year I earned …) or future income (to declare that your income during the next 12 months will be enough to pay for your stay in Thailand) .

Hello, I've been using the 800k method of applying for visa extension for 2 years and I'm midway through my latest year, using this method, no dramas. I have more than enough to cover the 800k which has remained untouched for 2 years but I would like to utilise this, rather than it sitting there looking at me, earning no interest. I have other rainy day money if needed for emergencies, thankfully. If I want to switch to the 65k method, can I start making these monthly income transfers now (May 2024) and switch to the 65k income method when I apply for my next extension in December 2024 or do I have to show 12 months worth of 65k transfers regardless of the 800k + I have in my Thai bank accounts. This would mean I could not apply to start the new method until December 2025. I know only immigration can tell me this, mine is in Jomtiem, so no need to mention this but looking for general advice about timing etc. Thanks

Hello all!

If you've previously renewed your retirement visa based on the 800,000 method, how do you transition to renewing using the 65,000 income method?

Is there a period when it's necessary to have both the 800,000 and the ongoing 65,000 in your Thai bank account?

Thank you!

Today I visit Jomtien Soi 5 to renew my extension of stay Non-O 50 up

This year I changed from embassy letter (Holland) to the 800 K method

As extra I needed to bring copy to proof my income next to the usual things, today extremely busy for me.

Last year, I used the 65k/monthly Income Method for my Retirement Extension. A lot of papers. The IO suggested I use the 800k Method as it was simpler, and only the bank balance proof and time limits was necessary. This was Nov 2019. I opened an account with KBank, and started depositing money monthly in order to have the 800K 3 months before my due date. I met the time limit with a month to spare.

Today I went to Samut Prakran Immigration with what I thought was all the correct documents. The desk clerk accepted my paperwork, but the approving officer said that I still needed proof of income source as before. I 'think' he explained that this was because I'm switching to the 800K Method for the first time ? I I believe I'm being told that to qualify I should have deposited 800K right after my last renewal was approved (Nov 2019) and ensure it was still 800k 3 months previous to my renewal now.

Apparently, next renewal won't need this proof.

I'm getting this through an interpreter so it's possible I'm not understanding 100%.

Can anyone clarify the procedure ? I was sure I understood what I needed to do, but now I'm confused.

Thanks
