For how long is the affidavit confirming income from the consulate valid? I need to renew my retirement extension and plan to use this in lieu of the 800k bank balance. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The affidavit confirming income from the consulate is valid for 6 months. This applies to notary letters from consulates that verify income from abroad. It is relevant for those looking to renew their retirement extension, as it can be used instead of the 800k bank balance requirement.

ALL notary letters from consulates which verify income from abroad are good for 6 months, not just the one from the US consulate ;)
A police order about the validity of the consulate letter being changed to 6 months was issued on 29 May 2013.
On the left hand side of this groups page under the name of the group is a tab called "Files". The PDF of the police order in thai and english is in there.

David, you misread what I posted :/
I said the NOTARY letter that verifies income from abroad issued by your consulate in good for 6 months. ;)
Most immigration offices will let a bank letter showing your balance be valid for 7 days, BUT some cranky ones want it issued the same day as you apply for your extension :/

I'm afraid it is much less than that. Only a few days or a week or two. I just don't recall the exact time frame.
