* Funds to Thailand for Non-O application based on Retirement *

I am planning to enter Thailand on a Tourist Visa and then apply for an in-country Non-O Visa based on retirement. I have done this once before but unfortunately had to forfeit my visa and my financial situation will be slightly different for my next application.

I am aware of the THB 800K requirements , i.e. having to come from abroad, having to be in the applicant's single Thai account and having been seasoned for a minimum of 2 months prior to the application.

My questions are:

1/ Does the sum of THB 800K have to be transferred in one lump sum or can it be transferred in installments over a period of time?

2/ Can the funds originate from a joint husband and wife account outside of Thailand ?

3/ Do the funds have to originate in the country mentioned as the permanent residence on the Tourist Visa application ?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you 🙏

Currently on a 30 day visa exempt and will extend for 30 days while waiting for funds to season for my yearly non O extension Thai wife. Question is if I get the 30 days at IT plaza Lak Si will that effect getting my non O later at Chanwattana? Or are the considered the same office?

Hi Everyone,

I am due to renew my Non-O retirment visa next week.

Unfortunately, due to Covid related financial turbulence, I was not always able to maintain funds in my Thai bank account this year. I have now reorganised my finances, and once again have over 800K in my account, but it has only been there for 6 weeks. Previously my account was well under 400K.

Will this be a problem? How strict is the renewal process about these funds, or do you think the immigration officers will show understanding of the fact that the past year has caused exceptional problems for many people? If it will be a problem is there an advice or help i can get to still renew my visa?

I'm due to extend my non immigration O based on Thai children mid September. Normally I have met the financial requirements by way of foreign income and an affidavit from my Embassy. Unfortunately having discovered this is no longer possible, it seems I will need to go down the 400 K thb in Thai bank account route.

The issue of seasoning the 400 K seems to very much be a grey area. I've read that some applicants have been required to season for 2 months, and others 3 months. The police order referred to in many posts is silent on the matter.

Question: Has anyone has successfully applied for an extension based upon Thai children at Chaengwattana with no seasoning of funds (400k thb)? What are my chances of successfully challenging an arbitrary seasoning requirement by referring back to the police order? TIA
