Can a Non O visa extension be applied for 45 days or just 30 days before expiration ?
Answer summary
The ability to apply for a Non-O visa extension depends on the specific Immigration office. While many offices allow applications 30 days before the expiration, some larger offices like those in Bangkok and Pattaya permit extensions to be applied for up to 45 days prior. It's crucial to note that the extension refers to the stay permit rather than the visa itself. If it's your first extension application, this is also influenced by the timing of when the required financial proof (800,000 THB in a Thai bank) has been in the account for two months. Therefore, it is advisable to check with your local Immigration office for their specific policies and guidelines.

Hi! At Chiang Mai Immigration, you can apply for your Non-O visa extension up to 45 days before it expires.
Applying early is highly recommended so you have plenty of time to double-check your financial documents and avoid any last-minute rush. Good luck with your extension! ๐น๐ญ๐
Kulcharee Krits thanks I should have mentioned that I am in Chiang Mai and I did a swtch from tourist visa to Non O retirement 90 day. The Immigration Officer said bring all my paperwork to apply 30 days before but like you I prefer to give myself as much leeway as possible so I was thinking 45 days would be better. My $ was made in March so not an issue.
While the most given answer to this question is that it depends on the specific Immigration office if they allow the application 30 days or 45 days prior to the expiry of the 90-days stay permit you got stamped when you entered Thailand, it doesn't really depend on the specific Immigration office.
In case it is your FIRST application to the 1-year extension of the stay permit, then it rather depends on the date when the 800,000 THB in your Thai bank account have seasoned for 2 months. This is the earliest date you can apply for the extension of the stay permit before your 90-days stay permit expires.
and there is nothing such as a Non O visa extension. You don't apply for an extension of a visa. A visa cannot get extended. The visa you entered Thailand on, expired and became invalid when you entered Thailand. The only thing that you can get extended, is the STAY PERMIT. The stay permit is not a visa
If you use the deposit method for the financial proof and it is your first extension application, you would have to wait until the deposit has been sitting in your Thai bank account for a minimum of 2 months. Then it would be irrelevant if your Immigration allows the application to the extension 30 days or 45 days prior to the expiry of the 90-days stay permit which you got stamped when you entered on a Non-Imm-O visa.
John Fitton while this is the most given answer, it doesn't really depend on the Immigration office, it rather depends on the date when the 800,000 THB in his Thai bank account have seasoned for 2 months. This is the earliest date he can apply for the extension of the stay permit
Nongnuch Kamdee Can a Non-O visa holder extend his 90-day stay without applying for the retirement permission to stay ? And after the extension, just go home ?
OP didn't actually mention retirement or funding a bank account.
Or would the retirement permission to stay be the ONLY way to extend the Non-O ?
Alan Rothwell nobody will enforce that you apply for the 1-year extension. You can fly out of Thailand before the 90 days stay permit expires. Then you would have spent a nice 90-days holiday
