Question? 90 day non-o visa expires 1/27/26… my book bank (800,000) just opened on 12/12/25… I am married to a Thai national (10 yrs), we just retired to Thailand I have everything but my visa will expire before the account ages for 2 months…. ? Do I ask for an extension on my current 90 day non-o? Or do I need to go online and apply for a new non-o and need to leave country and then return????

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about their 90-day Non-O visa expiring before their bank account meets the necessary financial requirements for a 1-year extension. They have just opened a Thai bank account with 800,000 THB, but it will not be aged for two months before their visa expiration. Community responses suggest visiting the immigration office to inquire about a possible 30-60 days extension due to marriage to a Thai national, highlighting the importance of having registered the marriage in Thailand. There is also the option of leaving Thailand briefly to apply for the Non-O visa again if necessary.

Im sorry to hear you didn’t get your funds taken care of right away, the rule is 60 days after funds are in you can apply for your 1 year extension but you have to have 14 days left on your original 90 non o,, I know it’s tough to get get it all done, the good thing is if you need to leave just go to Laos or someplace close and apply for your non o there and come back, a mini vacation to start your retirement

it took two weeks to get our docs translated we went straight to the bank, they said I need my Thai ID, the office told us we needed to get our ID in our district office … the rains and flooding stop us from traveling on to Sadao, so we went to the office another week passed … we had to get an appointment… another 4 days, we go to the appointment and we had to wait two more for the manager to sign off … we go to Siam Commercial they tell me I need a phone number just in my name, first time we heard that… we went KrugThai & Lotus … both said I need an A or X … so we went and got another SIM card in my name and went back to Siam Commercial and I am still waiting for an approval … supposed to get it Friday… then I read about Krugsri… and I opened

with no hassle’s… we now have an appointment for Jan 5th for immigrations … this has been a real fiasco… but I am confident we will get thru it we have all our docs in order and marriage is recorded, I have my book bank, ID, yellow book, drivers license, TM30, and insurance… 🙏 hopefully everything goes smoothly on 5th🙏

This is a common timing issue. Most immigration offices will let you extend your current Non-O (often 30–60 days) so your bank funds can season, especially since you’re married to a Thai national no need to leave Thailand in many cases. and the rule is 800,000 THB in the Thai bank account for TWO months on the day of application to the 1-year extension of the stay permit. On EVERY Thai Immigration office of all the 85 Immigration offices inside Thailand. There is no way around it except paying an agent a hefty sum of money for bribing a corrupt officer

you cannot just pick another Immigration. You need to use the one that serves the location of your accomodation which is registered in the TM30 system

As a woman married to a Thai citizen, you do not have to prove financials. However you must have entered on the correct 90-days single entry Non-Imm-O Family Visa issued for a woman married to a Thai. However, if you have entered on a 90-days Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa, your marriage is irrelevant and you need to prove 800,000 THB in your bank account, seasoned for 2 months on the day you apply for the 1-year extension of the stay permit . . . . . you did not say on which visa-type you entered. You said you "retire" in Thailand so I assume you entered on the "wrong" retirement visa, for which you have to prove a minimum of 800,000 THB in your Thai bank account. On a 90-days Non-Imm-O Family Visa, you would not have to prove anything but that you are married and the marriage is registered in Thailand (Kor Ror 22 or 2 - whichever applies)

You've only got one chance. You need to go to your immigration office and ask them if they support the "visiting Thai family" extension. This is a 60-day extension that might be available to you because you have a Thai wife.

If it's available, apply for this and it should give you time for your money to be in the account long enough. You need to check what the requirements are if they will allow you to apply, because I'm not sure if your marriage has to be registered in Thailand or not and that can be quite a process if yours isn't already registered.

on another note …. I just retired (

)

So I will be receiving regular deposits in my bank account in the USA … do I need to have record showing regular deposits in a Thai Bank Account … so I don’t have to leave 800,000 earning no interest moving forward … does my question make sense ?

You can't use that until year 2. For the first 1-year extension immigration only accepts 800k in your Thai bank account or embassy certified income. The US embassy doesn't do that anymore, so it's only the 800k. Then during the first year as long as you get an international deposit of at least 65,000 baht every single calendar month for the 12 months before you apply for next extension, you can use that instead of the bank balance. But you need to keep your balance up to meet this year's extension requirement which is 800k for 2 months before, 3 months after extension, and then never below 400,000
